Cooking a slap up fillet steak for everyone full works blah blah blah. They've got this shitty electric oven that i barely knew how to use.

 

steak went cooking under the grill but I'd already turned the fat on in the pan to do some onion rings :wink: turned the hob off but forgot that It would remain very hot and ended up smoking the house out haha panicked like **** and took the pan of stupidly hot fat off the hob and put it on the counter side.

 

WHICH IS NOW SUFFERING FROM 1ST DEGREE BURN MARKS.

Big ooops. Just eaten and the steaks were nice lol they were ok about it. Could see I was gutted. Spent a fortune on food aswell and messed pretty much all of it up lol

I smoke the house out every time I make steak and I can't reach the kitchen window to let it escape! Fillet steak ain't cheap tho! My brother was house sitting my mums house and managed to burn the laminate work surface in her brand new kitchen so at least your not alone! He realise he had the grill on instead of the oven and put the chicken on the side while he worked out the cooker. Must be a man thing!!

You put fillet steak under the grill to cook, sacrilege :lol: always pan fry or griddle if you can get one, like a George Foreman, under a grill will dry most meat out as the juices disappear into the bottom of the grill pan instead of staying in the meat.

 

Anyway cookery lesson over and know exactly how you feel lol, i was cooking pancakes yesterday and even with the door and window open set off the fire alarms:biggrin:

Seal it in a HOT pan then in the oven, turning half way :)
