my wee girl dropped my wifes galaxy s4 onto the tiled bathroom floor tonight and now the screen doesn't work. you can see a crack behind the front glass. the screen flashes when you turn it on but nothing appears on it everything else appears to be working. anyone had this replaced before?

That'll be the front Screen and digitiser ..... any asian phone shop will be able to repair it for you !

If you google for a Galaxy S4 front screen and digitiser there's lots of DIY options and a crowd in Bradford who can do it while you wait or post it to them....

If the screen flashes, then that will be the LCD not the digitizer, you can buy one and repair your self by striping the phone down, use a hair dryer and a Stanley blade to separate the LCD from the digitizer (if you haven't cracked the digitizer that is) be patient with it and gentle or you will end up damaging the digitizer as well, the new LCD should come with its own adhesive strips to glue it back into place, or the other option is, getting the LCD/ Digitizer complete assembly and then all you have to do is change the circuit board over on the back of the screen.

Pretty simple and straight forward in all honesty, ive repaired loads of them.

Anyway.

I did a repair on my S3 yesterday, coincidentally. I only broke the front glass though.

Replacement cost £5 delivered off ebay and took my 2hrs (taking my time) to change it over. It's not quite as good as new but a huge improvement on how it was.

The repair cost quoted at a few places for me was £120 to change the glass, digitizer and LCD (they claimed it was not possible to change just the glass). And any independent phone shop/stall usually offers the service, though contrary to what has been said above, I wouldn't guarantee they are owned/manned by asians
