A bit of a daft one Guys, Ive not been out in the car on a night for a while, went out tonight and the main beams are locked on..

Ill have to fault find it at the weekend but any thoughts on what might cause it?

the main beam light is on in the dash unit, but the dash lights dont come on..

im thinking short or bit of damp behind the dash unit?

Yep fuse top row third along iirc, it blowing will cause the main beams to stay on.

Stick a nail in to bridge the connections..............that's a joke BTW !

as soon as I twist the light on, not looked in great detail as no spare fuses..

what you thinking?

That fuse feeds side lights , rear lights, internal lights, dash lights, fog light switch, high /low beam change over relay, and some other stuff.

Its possible that a blown bulb can blow short circuit, but unlikely, so may be worth pulling a few bulbs

More likely frayed wire shorted to chasis, melted wires shorted together or water in lights or fuse boxes

I would:

Pull the sidelights and check wires

Pull boot trim to check rear light wires

Open up the pod with light switch to check wires

Look for water in interior light and side light etc

Chech both fuse boxes for water or burning

Take cover off steering colum to check wires on flasher stalk

But before any of that i,d try one more fuse

Been out this morning, all of the above looks okay, took a risk and put a bigger fuse in to do some metering but didnt like the noise so quickly checked all lights. All working apart from sidelights, both of them.

Bumper has been off to fit fmic, apart from the wires at the lights themsleves is there anything else behind the bumper that I might need to check? before I pull the bumper..
