Techie ECU help

Is there a difference between manual and automatic ECU' s? I have removed my auto ecu and wandered if it is compatible with my manual car.

 

I would of thought that engine management would be the same as there is the separate Auto box ecu. If they are different, what functions are? Thanks in advance, Tony.
