Im in the market for a toy.

Not emotionaly ready for another zed at the minute tho.

Ive driven nothing but Bmw's recently, and although I love them, fancy a break from the norm.

 

Must be turbo'd and id prefer Rwd but would consider 4wd.

I can't tell you how enjoyable it was to own, never broke or mucked me about, loves the wet, lives for the snow, screw it, it loves the dry too!

It Doesn't love the heat though however as it has a charge cooler... but it's easily lagged or swapped for a front mount :)

 

With just an apexi air filter, straight pipe to turbo intake for least possible restriction, some pretty snazzy lagging material for the charge cooler, a decat and Mongoose system she pulled 311hp and 356lb/ft torque, more than enough to put a grin on your face in the country roads :D

You can pick them up from 2.2k I suppose..

The BIG jim in me says i shouldn't buy an Mx5.

I sat in one once with the roof off. Honestly dont think i could have been sat there with the roof up.

 

There is a simple mod you can make to the seats, Nicknamed a "Foamectomy" that lowers your seating postion considerably.

 

How tall are you ? Im 6ft2" and had no issues in my mk1 Mx5 with the mod done.

 

Super reliable, lots of fun, dirt cheap to buy, run, maintain and upgrade.

 

With your budget you would have a lot of money left over though. The one to buy is the Mk1, and no reason to pay much more than £1200 for one..unless you buy a Turbocharged one, which is a common upgrade.....then its more like £2-2.5k

Think im settled on an impreza, although there is a decent looking r33 gtst on driftworks.
