Ok so I've got laquer peel on my red zed is there anyway to get rid of this without a respray, can I not flat it back with say 800 wet and dry follow it up with 1200 or 1500 then compound polish it all back up?

Well if the laquer has been removed you will no longer have a clear coat on top of the base coat, leaving it without that glass finish after a polish.

I had this also on my front wing very slight peel and then a few months ago I noticed deep scratch marks on the same wing and blamed our new dog for it but anyway it needed sprayed so thought I would give it a try first. Used the different grades of wet and dry paper and used plenty of water till the scratch marks were gone but they were deep so ended up taking the paint of and the primmer showing. So mine needs paint now! But as yours is just laquer peel you should be able to wet and dry it and buff it up again but and its a big but you need to have the skills to do it or you will end up like me needing it painted.

Yeah the bit on the front drivers wing i did exactly that. Minimal prep i just wanted to see what would happen as the laquer was completely gone.

But you can see the ridge from where i didnt blend it.

So can you wet and dry it, then spray a can of lacquer over it for a good few coats, then use running compound after a week to blend it in completely?

I am no expert on this and my effort did not work to well but its hit or miss for a novice. May be some one with more experience can help.

If you are going to attempt to rub it down start with 1000 or 1200 grit wet and dry, Plenty of water, make sure the wet and dry is cleaned repeatedly other wise it will pick up what you are removing and dig into the paint you are uncovering...

Don't press into the paper, take your time and do it very lightly, let the paper do the work.... again make sure it is wet and clean.... otherwise you will go though the colour to primer..... Try going around the outside of the peeling lacquer and avoid the middle of the patch as that will be the bit that rubs through the colour first...

I would then lightly do the entire panel to just take off the top part of the lacquer.... Lightly....

once you have removed the lifting lacquer, clean area with clean water and wait for it to dry.... I use diluted metholated spirit to clean again....

Then a clean dry cloth to wipe over area....

Best thing to do now is to re lacquer the panel..... You would be best to go to a company that supplies the trade and get a can of clear coat made up, as it is TOTALLY different to halfords rattle cans..... They are more thinners than paint......

A professional can will give you a better spray pattern....

Make sure the panel is clean and dry......

start with a light coat of the top coat..... and let it dry away from flies or dirt..... Garage or gazebo......

Add a couple of coats of clear and wait for it to dry between coats....

Allow to dry for a day or 2....... Then you can give it a light polish with Farclea G3 and then some nice wax.......

I am no expert..... But have picked up a few things over the years......

Now I am waiting to be told I forgot something or got it all wrong......lol
