I'm currently measuring the daily drain on an unused but alarmed Z and want to know how low I dare let the voltage drop before the car won't start properly. I'm no sparkie though I'm aware it's actually amps that crank the car, but I'm getting the following readings and at some point the volt number will be too low to start:

Sun morning: 12.45v

Mon morning: 12.29v

Tue morning: 12.09v

Wed morning: 11.98v

Thu morning: 11.90v

^ these are including opening/closing central locking once per morning, leaving alarmed/immobilized and not starting/driving car

That's a lot of drain over that amount of time.

Remember, voltage while idle doesn't mean much, when you crank it the volts will drop a lot. I'd say anything less than 12v is pushing your luck and I reckon you need a new battery.

that was mainly a separate issue - I was hoping the resolution of that would reduce the drain a bit but I won't know that without measuring the voltage on a regular basis. I just wanted an idea of how far to let it drain. I might measure it one last time tomorrow morning and use it for work.
