I've got a Seat Leon Cupra Sport with the 1.8 Turbo engine.

When you change gear it holds onto the revs for a second or so before dropping down, I wondered if this was a characteristic of the engine or a possible problem? The only other possible clue is that there's a big hissing noise from the engine which I need to look at tomorrow, sounds like there's a massive air leak but not sure if it is related. Would appreciate any replies :)

Hi baz, can't help with the Seat, but just wanted to say really pleased with the shell, its safely tucked away in my garage now. I changed the two front coilpacks as I said on mine and the miss has now gone,so thanks for those, so problem solved. I also attached that boost tester you made and tried to pressurize but I can't seem to pressurize system, your gadget is definately working as I have had my hand up against it

Hi Neil, glad you got it back ok, great to meet you and Oscar. Pleased to hear the coilpacks worked, you should be able to fit the boost leak checker in place of the MAF and give it some pump with the airline, you should easily be able to hear any leaks from the lines, what was it doing?

I removed the maf and connected yours in its place and tried to inflate system with one of those mickey mouse cigarette lighter compressor pumps. I left it running for a few minutes and failed to build any pressure in the system

Yeah I got told that wouldn't work, compressor and airline will certainly be man enough for the job if you have one, or down the local shell garage :)

Same cupra as mine then

I got same big turbo hiss noise on mine.

My advise would be to get rid now as these are nothing but trouble, lol.

Had mine since feb and spend loads on trying to find a hesitation problem.

Mikey couldnt even find what the problem is, niether can my local machanic mate who owns his own garage nor can the local seat main dealer themselves.

I have a Leon tdi as well, the turbos on these things are really noisy it's just the way they are. Have a look at the joins between the sections of intake piping to see if there is any play, if so try a new clip and failing that get some adhesive lined shrink wrap

Thanks guys its not really a problem just a bit weird, I'll put up with it if I have to :)

Hi Baz, our family hack is an 2006 A4 2.0T S-line estate, that does that revs temp sticking thing when u cane it...my works car is a 2007 Skoda Octavia VRs 2.0 FSi which doesn't. When I first jumped in the Audi after driving the Skoda I thought my foot was catching the clutch pedal! Never looked into it tbh, just put it down to the characteristics of the 2 different engines (the VRs being more responsive than the S-line).

Thanks for that Steve, I've just put it down to characteristics, I just use it for pootling to work occasionally. Google search seems to bring up quite a lot of threads but no definitive answers, so I'll live with it lol.

Yeah, like I said, the Audi only does it when ur givin it the beans at high revs. Once I got used to it I just timed my clutching and gear changes accordingly (ie give it half a sec after taking foot off the gas before dipping clutch to change up). It's only done 55,000 from new and apart from my occasional weekend blasts in it, it has had a pretty pedestrian life....
