I have an automatic car, when travelling very slow and I apply the brakes to stop the front freak and groan, then they do the same as soon as they are released. They have only started doing this a week or so ago, pads are approx 5000 miles old and discs about 20,000 miles old. Am I hearing the pads moving around? Or would moving pads make a rattling noise? Thanks

They crack loudly aswell

I had this when mine was auto, apparently quite common, especially when damp, the auto box is constantly trying to push forward even at standstill, so the brakes are under more strain. Try coming to a stop in neutral and you should notice the difference. Autos do go through more brakes than a manual.

Mine does exactly the same. Loudly.

I've driven loads of automatic cars and they all seem to do it

My wife's auto Mercedies did it I took the pads out and filed round the outer edges of the pads so they sit a little looser in the caliper and so far it is working.

My front brakes make a clicking sound when I brake sometimes. Think it's the pads moving slightly.

Thanks lads, least am not the only one, just annoying it it hasn't done it ever before but is now.
