My mum's got a Qashqai. There's a noise from the steering, she notices it at low speed at full lock / near full lock (dunno if she really knows what full lock means but you get the picture!).

 

The local Nissan dealer has had it in twice to fix the problem and failed. can anyone recommend an independent garage near Dundee who might have a good go at sorting it for her?

shame your not near me i work for the oldest nissan dealer in the contry, will ask the master techs if they have any ideas that may help.

would the noise not be the steering pump when she has on full or near full lock????

master techs just said the common thing to cause the noise is the lower steering column bushes, first thing is to spray with oil then to replace by the sounds of it,

I'd go with Trevs thinking, if it's just happening on full lock then it is possible its just the noise of the pressure relief/bypass valve. Tell her not to hold it on full lock :)
