MOT query Problem.

Hi Guys, got a problem, i went to the gov website to check the MOT status of one of my cars, i put in the reg and code from the V5 (Cant find MOT) well the reply came back as

Error: We are unable to process your request because the vehicle you searched for has no test that can be reported.

"well you aint got an MOT" i here you all shout. BUT i am POSITIVE i went last sept and got one, the tax was obtained in Dec 2012, and when i try to obtain a tax disc, the check it makes for Ins and MOT comes back clear.

Any suggestions?, i am going down to the garage to see if i can get a copy tomorrow but just wondered tonight if any explanations can be found.

Cheers

Rich

all records are stored direct to dvla, once mot has been done, as its all input by the tester, thats why you dont get the old style mot certificate anymore. check with the garage, reg number or chassis number may have been input wrong.

even thou u don't have an MOT certificate like u used to you still have a Paper sheet to say u have had it done and when its due again

you should have that to start off with if u dont .. its most likely u forgot to get it done :) tut tut lol

Mate, I had the same problem last year. It was because my plate has a 0 and an O and the system didn't have them the right way around. Dont know if you have zero's etc but it certainly mucks up the system, especially if the information 'in-putter' has made a typo. Also have been pulled twice by the Rozers because their license plate recognition system couldnt work my plate out. Go back to the garage as said and they will be able to help.

Hi Guys, well just to tell you i hadn't got it wrong, (tut, tut) i DID have an MOT, i went to the garage who i thought did it (see, even I was questioning my own sanity..) and after he entered the details of the reg and doc no on the V5, it came back with an error, he ALSO said i did not have one. I persisted and got him to enter details of the past mot which came up saying a later on existed.. this confused him, so he put just the car reg details in, he said as it was on the VOSA PC he didn't need to put in doc numbers, well it came back with an error again but with a print button for the later MOT, he pressed it and hey presto out popped the current MOT... proof, i'm not going crazy, well not any more than i already am.... I then came home and entered details of my X5 which i had the MOT for in my possession. guess what...error "NO MOT". Strange...

So either there is a problem with VOSA or with my garages setup...as a test, can some of you test the gov website mot check page, its here http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ECSID-Internet-Status-Request.jsp put in the reg and the doc ref from the V5. Let me know either way what results you get. Thanks

Sounds like there is a data issue somewhere, you really need to get it sorted out otherwise chances are you are going to have problems when you go to tax the car. Even worse if it aint on the database the police use then theres going to be issues if they ever stop you.

Best giving the VOSA helpline a call and explain the situation 0300 123 9000. Hopefully they can help, if not let us know.

That does seem strange, sounds more like a problem with the DVLA rather than VOSA then.

Rang the DVLA and they said it was probably the V5 was not up to date hence showing a wrong number and MOT error. Before you ask ,yes, it was the new version..
