Arrrghh! Can't park the Lancer on the drive, it's far too steep & we've got tremendous amounts of snow here. So to my horror we've had to park it over the road. We're the first house in the cul de sac on a dodgy bend at the best of times. Add the weather into the mix & idiots who can't drive in snow & we've had 2 v v near misses in 5 mins. We're sat here, arses knitting socks, watching to see what happens. There's no way we can move the car now either, far too much snow. In for a v tense night. Fingers toes & tits crossed its ok. I will cry if someone damages it :(

I understand your anxiety Jane.....

......I made the mistake of driving to work in the Merc this morning so I decided to leave early to ensure I could get it home. I managed very well until I got to the vilage and had to negotiate the very steep hill up to my own road.....

.....faced with leaving the car down there (at the mercy of everyone sliding down aimlessly overnight tonight) and walking home; or desparately hoofing it up the hill in the remote chance of making it to the safety of my drive, I decided to at least go for it. Much sideways drifting and sliding later, my dogged determination paid off.

I made it, where the BMW behind gave up and left his car at the roadside. I'll be using Julia's Rav-4 for the next few days if I need to go out....

Send Mark out there with a shovel in the morning to dig the car out; and clear the drive so you can rest easily....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Definitely digging out tomorrow and shifting it. Its heavy snow but its also persistant. No let up in about 4 hours now!

Get yourself down to lidl's. I got some rock salt from there as there doing a offer on it.

My drivdeis on a incline and in this weather is a nightmare.

Put some of they rock salt down yesterday and my drive is still clear of any snow.

I drove from Cornwall to Wakefield today as I'm welsh I learn to drive in the snow you wouldn't be leave some arses I came across while on my 7 hour drive home

I was in my vectra estate last night and although the wheels were spinning at times it was nothing I couldn't handle. A 1" per mile incline would have stopped me though..

Took me an 1hr 40mins to get from mansfield to notts the other day, usually takes 30mins in normal rush hour, it didnt snow all the way, no ice, just slush in the middle of the road, 2 nice wide tyre tracks to drive in and lots of snow on the verges.

Theres just so many knob heads doing 5-10mph down the road, didnt see one crash, overtook 12 cars in the van (i was quite pleased about that).

Top Gear need to do an episode on 'How to drive in an inch of snow on gritted roads', Some people take the piss.

Well near death experience was just about to load the daughter and grand kids in her car and an idiot in a Vectra comes flying around the corner flat out spinning round the corner and totals her Mondeo. Lucky the wife knocked her out of the way and I had the grand kids picked up out of the snow so all is well, just another insurance claim to deal with.

Glad you're all ok mate, that must have been terrifying for you. There are a lot of idiots out there that seem to think they are immune to weather conditions. I can't say on the forum what I really think of these people :censored:
