The most likely time you'll hear detonation is when coming onto boost at full throttle, it's less likely to occur further up the rev range, plus it's harder to hear due to noise/engine noise/exhaust/tyre noise etc. Knock isn't always audible, though.

Don't worry too much about having bypassed the knock sensor, it's only in operation at 3200 RPM and below:

This week should be fine, I'll get back to you ASAP :)

Sorry read your other post 2 days that's fine, would you be able to have it a bit longer I may have to drop it in go to work for a bit then come back.

Two days is preferable, especially as the car may have an underlying issue that needs investigating in this case.

Sending a PM to you now.

Fantastic, thanks mate. The guy that rolling roaded it was an evo tuner and said he would need me to get a new ecu for him to work on it. this is far better, can't wait.

Yup, the stock Nissan ECU is a wonderful piece of equipment when mapped properly :)

See here for a compressor map for actual efficiency islands:

There is a lot of evidence, on here and from results all over the world that they work just fine at higher boosts than 16.5 psi. The compressor map should be accepted as the be-all & end-all really, and there is lots of room for manoeuvre above & beyond what is "accepted".

Sorry, I'm not sure what the difference between "safe map" and "very very safe map" is, but I'm just trying to point out to the owner & OP that it isn't a "safe map" at all. Overfueling doesn't prevent det, its purpose is for additional cylinder cooling in applications that might require it, such as prolonged track use. Correct timing & fuel octane is what prevents knock. All you're going to get with an overly-rich mixture is the promotion of pre-ignition due to all the carbon build up and subsequent hot-spots, plus an increase in compression ratio over time leading to an increase in the chance of actual detonation.

HTH :)

oHH, one month ago I tried to plot the rpm straigh lines into a turbo graph, but finallly, I made the data with error...

Could you tell me what equations and values do you use?

Sorry for my english...

Thanks

Hi mate,

Trust me, your English is better than my Spanish, German, French etc!!

Rather than take this thread off-topic, I'll post on the thread you quoted with the data you need :)

Technical question guys, I'm bored at work wondering. Why was the car running rich, it's getting sorted now but things it could have been to my understanding. Boost leak after the MAF or the eprom chip not working or the exit being wierd??? What do the O2 sensors do if they don't fiddle with the mixture? Just to further my understanding of how these things work. Thanks in advance.

They do trim the AFR, but only for idle and cruise. Acceleration is dealt with in open loop mode i.e. no deviation from the mapping.
