Depending on budget, I've used a variety ranging from Race Technology kit and Go Pro to much cheaper alternatives. I do rate the Go Pro quite highly and have used them for all sorts from recording the family opening their presents at Christmas to freefall from 25 grand, they are more expensive than most but very well made and reliable

If you don't want to spend a lot but want something that's still pretty decent and comparable for track days then take a look at the 'Eagle Eye' stuff, from my experience they are also very good for the money (don't pay too much attention to some reviews as they are mostly from competitors). The video quality is good and they are simple to use

Steer clear of the cheap £20-£40 ebay stuff though, I have several types that I've played around with and some really are cheap tat.

In a nutshell Go Pro if you want to spend a fair amount, and Eagle Eye if you want decent fmv at a much cheaper price (if you can try to get one of the earlier orange versions, that's the one that I tested last year)

Ive got 2 of these, (key fob cameras) you have to check which way the lens is pointing first (which i didnt do) and charge them up for a while.

Got a great vid of my del sol going round the nurburgring, although its missed all the right hand corners as the lens was facing to the left  The sound is good, you can hear that my oil pump has broken on the last 2 corners.

Plus as you are not allowed cameras on your car around the ring, they are easy to hide, bit of double sided sticky tape to hold them on and a cable tie just incase the tape comes off.

And micro sd cards are a couple of quid on amazon, so for a mighty £7, you can have a cheap yet good quality camera. (720p i think)
