My aftermarket water gauge- not sure its reading correctly, at the moment it is spliced in to the Nissan water temp gauge wiring at the dials unit. so the after market gauge & Nissan gauge works together.

With the Nissan temp sensor in place wired from that directly to the aftermarket gauge, when tested the gauge went straight up to 100.

I've wired the YELLOW/GREEN wire from the ECU to the after market gauge and the zed went bonkers it did not like it. Wire removed.

Any ideas anyone. HOW SHOULD YOU WIRE THE AFTER MARKET GAUGE?

should be on its own Sensor ...

the sensors on the nissan will be different volt settings

The sensor that came with it Mark will not fit in the Nissan temp hole ( to small) do you know the best place to fit it? Cheers Paul

Hi Mate, take a pic of where you fit it to and drop it on this thread will you?

Had same problem, but i wired mine to the actual temp sensor. always reads max temp. metered the sensor in a pan of heating water and all okay.

thought it was a dodgy earth or something lol..

Yeah, like MarkDerby said, the Nissan ones are a different setting.

you can trick it by finding a resistor that will correct it, however you need conzult or some other software to find the temp and then using an adjustable resistor set the after market one so it reads right.

then measure the resistance that the adjustable resistor is set to and get a set resistor of that value and wire it in to the gauge.

or just put the one that came with the gauge in as described (with the adapter).

Just drill a hole, thread it and thats it : dziurka.jpg

Cheers Guys.. its just sooo permanent.. want to get it right.. lol... Thanks...

Take your time bud and you'll be fine :thumbup1:

You've been running it to the wrong wires, 1 sensor on waterpipe has 2 pins, the other has just the one pin, the one with 1 pin goes to the temp gauge, the other sends signals to the ecu that controls the mixture/idle based on engine temp. you'll likely need to only run one gauge off that sensor, no need for the stock one if you have an aftermarket there.

Going off what other guys have said, you may as well just remove the stock 1 pin sensor and replace it with the one that came with your gauge. then just not run the stock cluster one.

that is a good idea as long as the thread size is correct.... other wise its a re-tap and that may not be possible if the same diameter. (but certainly worth a check)

That was the first thing I tried lol.. thought i may as well use a new working sensor.. much smaller.. Thanks though....
