My engine is only running off 5 cylinders. I have replaced the spark plug, that worked for a bit. Then replaced the Ignition control pack and the spark plug, that worked for a bit. Now there is no electricity going to the ignition coil pack. Lost after this

Where does that line go to?

How to fix the problem?

Hi, the feed to the coil packs come from the PTU, which is located on the front drivers cam belt cover, just next to the top water pipe and intake pipe. Check the plug connectors or use a multimeter for continuity through the ptu.

The Ptu can be a cause of many misfires or can get hot and fail, mainly due to dry solder joints on the board. The best option if you suspect the PTU to have gone down is to get another known working PTU or upgrade to the series 2 unit.

There are some tech info threads about the PTU, start with the search in the Tech link on the top banner. HTH

Its probably the PTU as Groover (above) has mentioned :) ...also check for dirty corroded connections on the coil packs and the green relays under the bonnet (egi) as i have had recent problems with this :)

Likely to be dodgy loom wiring or a plug, clean every connector you can get to, and have a thorough check for brittle/cracked/broken wiring and plugs...

Just to clear up what you saying there, the coil packs have 3 connections, one 12v ignition live, one earth connection and one trigger pulse from the ptu, by the "no electricity" do you mean the 12v ignition live? because if you do then all of the coil packs are on a linked power supply that is fed from a relay in the fuse/relay boc on the passenger inner wing.

However if you mean the trigger cable from the ptu then it will not show as a power supply with a conventional test meter. As mentioned by others the ptu connection us the place to start and trace back to the individial coil pack signal cable, most times though it is just a connection issue or an output failed on the ptu.

Not one of the connections is in the 3 connections inside the coil pack sending anything, tested all three just to make sure. Checking PTU and lines today, hopefully clears up issue. thanks

Im trying to get another PTU right now, I believe thats the issue. Traced all the lines no breaks or cracks that I can see. If its not the PTU what would be your next step in trying to figure this out?
