Looking for a daily driver......must be fun though! any suggstions?

Right looking for a new daily driver. My current VW Polo is going to my daughter and I fancy something fun now. As well not losing £££'s on depreciation that newer cars suffer, I have been looking at loads of 80/90's cars like.....

Would like to keep the engine 2litre max, to keep the fuel bill reasonable. Diesel - petrol not worried, 2/4 doors doesn't matter-and a budget up to 3.5k. I would rather the car was in good condition as I don't have enough time to pamper/upgrade the car and the Zed will get jealous!

Toyota Celica GT4 - test drove a Carlos Sainz, not long after they came out, maybe still need to scratch that itch. Anyone owned a faff? Looking at 2 on the weekend

MR2's MK2- rev3/4- Love the look, not sure at 6'4" I'll fit behind the wheel though

Opel Manta's - had 1 back in my youth, tempted back! My Brother owns a couple of Manta and pointed this out that just appeared on ebay the other day.

I dont know if its the one your on about but my friend has the twin entry turbo, he drives it a lot faster then my zed (not saying it is faster lol) but it is very very fun, i can fit in at 6ft5 and a bit chubby, cheap to buy, about the same as the zed to run depending on how heavy your foot is.

The usual supsects?

Mazda MX5

Clio Cup (good choice Quavey)

E46 BMW (diesel probably best)

Megane 2.0T

Celica GT4 (S205)

Porsche 924 (!!!)

MR2 (newshape - simple fun)

Alfa GTV (Marmite, love it/hate it)

Lexus IS200

Focus ST170

Seat Leon Cupra

etc etc

Had been looking at the Clio cups, can't help but wonder how harsh the ride is. Might try and get a cheeky test drive, lol.

Porsche 924, very nearly bought one before the zed, nice classic looks, shouldn't loose much dosh. Not a fan of the Seat Leon look tbh, but the Lexus will defo look at not sure about the fun factor of a lexus though.
