Went to Loughborough on Friday night as I had a track day booked for 1pm on Saturday in Prestwold racing track which was only about 3 miles away. It was my birthday present from June but only this weekend were we kid free and able to go :)
I was taken round the track 3 times in a Skoda RS just as a demo to show you how/where you brake/accelerate and how you enter and leave the bends at speed. The guy who drove the Skoda only looked about 12 years old but fair play to him he drove the car superbly. Then it was my turn in the GTR and what can I say.......it was absolutely ******* awesome! The car is truly unbelievable.
Its really hard to describe how powerful the thing is! The gear changes using the paddles is just instant and it throws you back in the seat every time you change up. The instructor who sits in the car with you said that this car was the best they had and it was in good company too as there was an Aston Martin, 2 Ferrari's, Porsche, Audi R8 and a TVR
I only had the 4 laps in the GTR but I smiled all the way around the track! lol. You just cant help it. The time went so quick too. I managed to do a Ferrari as well!! Left it for dead in my rear view mirror which felt brilliant. :)
My missus was left to do the pics and video which was a big mistake!! She managed to take a load of pics of bloody gravel and then must have had the shutter closed or something as when we looked back at them there were loads of pics with absolutely nothing on them! lol. Managed to do a few though and she did do a small video too :) I know I look like I am driving like an old granny when driving off but you were not allowd to slam it out of the pit lane! :(
It was a fabulous experience and I am going to save some dosh and definately do it again soon. You can just turn up on the day if you want to take the GTR around the track but its £40 per lap! I got 4 laps for £99 which was worth every penny believe me!! I could have quite happily stayed driving it all day! :)
