at a guess id say ur speed sensor is broke, if the speedo is going wierd, does the power steering go funny too? is it an import? with speedo chip? done an autobox diag?

Clarkey, its a import 90,new speed sensor 4 weeks ago,yes the steering does go harder etc but not all the time, aslong as the speedo works a little the steering goes back to normal, should realy get another speedo but cant at moment(spent to much on hols,),came home from work this morning and it was all spot on better than ever,it has done one thing all the time since i got it,it will not change gear from first till it hits 3000rpm is this normal, cant remember if my previous zed did this or not, thing is this morning it changed gear a lot earlier and seemed more normal for driving,.How do you do the autobox diag!,cheers.

Tony, my autobox started to suffer drive problems, occassional slippage on acceleration and then finally not able to go above 2nd gear at all. It turns out that a solenoid in the autobox had failed causing lack of oil pressure across the clutch plates and hence no changing up above 2nd gear. Not sure whether a autobox diag would show this type of fault up?

ps. see you Thursday night for the meet.

Thanks John,is it actually in the box, ifso box out then, would this happen so soon on such a newish box, would it help to have the oil in box replaced at ZEDWORLD,or just wait see if it clears, cheers Tony.

I just changed my oil... going from full synthetic to Castrol GTX higher mileage formula. I also took out the oil sender unit and cleaned it with carb cleaner, using a wet-dry vac to remove the last of the carb cleaner from the unit.

ย

My oil pressure now reads stable, between 30-60 psi all the time. It never drops below 20 psi anymore.

ย

Indy mechanics actually try to minimize the amount of oil that gets onto moving parts. Once parts are coated, you generally want as little as oil as possible on a part, just enough to make it slick.

I would say all your problems are due to a dodgy speed converter. I had an eratic speedo which sometimes would work and then die, and when it died so did my PAS. Then my HICAS light would come on.

ย

If the converter costs less than ยฃ80, its not going to do the job.

Leigh, the speed converter was originaly fitted year ago ,but becouse previous owner was getting speedo probs like it still does ,he had it taken out thinking it was at fault, but it still played up,so it could not of been the converter?,so he reckons,.New speed sensor fitted a few weeks ago,so i suppose that unless i get the clocks changed i wont know for sure what it is,strange thing is since i first got zed it never changes gear from first to second till it hits just over 3,000rpm,is this normal!.
