we were looking at maybe getting a conservatory for nyomi to have as a playroom and as thins are a bit tight the now money wise thought we would have a look see if any second hand ones were going cheap. anyway we seen this on going for 500 or first decent offer secures. when we messaged him to asked what offer it would take to get it if we took it down he said if you take it down and remove it il give you it for free. now me and my bro in law are going on the 10th july to dismantle it and take it away anyone done this before any tips would be handy. the conservatory is about 15 years old and is 9m by 4m. we get 2 sets of french doors, conservatory, railings, guttering and they might throw in the blinds for free aswell

went to see it during the week the house is in a really posh area of just outside glasgow where some footballers stay. the conservatory is in great condition but they want to put up a permanent extension so they just need it away to start that. they had it on ebay and forgot to take it off and it sold for £435 but still giving it to us for free as they said to us first

You'll likely need planning permission for that.

Also, it ain't easy to dismantle and rebuild a conservatory without creating a number of leaks.

It won't be easy, but you can't grumble for free :)

bearing in mind it would cost a bit for founds and brickwall that is good, but i reckon it could be alot harder to build a wall for the conservatory rather than build a conservatory for the wall

hope it goes well mate, looks as big as my house lol

yeah its not going to be going up till next year so got time to organise planning permision spoke to the building company who are doing the extension and they have said to organise a meeting with the planning office as due to changes in the rules they may let us build it without permission

costs alot less when you know people that work on building sites getting you the stuff for free will have a few favours to return mind you can see alot of free electrics getting done for people lol

pms, there is a greta confusion regarding planning for conservatories, i can never seem to get a straight answer from anyone lol

You shouldn't need planning permission as long as its your own house. If you open the house up into the conservatory then you need planning permission, it is confusing. Be careful when taking the roof off as the plastic can be very brittle due to sun exposure. A good builder can build a wall to suit a conservatory no probs, I'd get as many sizes as I could before taking it down though to make things easier.

I did exacly this about 6 years ago!!! had the chance of a free conservatory, so jumped at the chance, I`ll put some pics up later, but its big, and I used only half of it and built the foundations and wall to suit!!!! piece of piss, but I am a builder and completed the lot (down and up) in less than a week:) BUT!!!! as builders we are finding it very common now for people getting fed up with conservatories, they are very uneconomical (heat loss) and bloody noisy when its raining!!! i now only use mine early spring when its nice cool weather, summer sun its too hot and winter its just too cold even with a 1800x600 double rad on full!! if you can afford and the poly carb roof has perished get some glass!!! its expensive but will keep a lot more heat in and the rain noise down !! but better still, build an extension!!! you still need foundations, and block work/render, so another few courses of block, use the windows/doors from it and a cheapo roof, much better job!!!

we just completed this for someone on a very tight budget for £4900!!!!(i will get pics up later)
