Well after spending 2 years in the garage, my Apexi AVCR boost controller finally made it onto the Z yesterday!:huh:

The install went fine and I set the controller up as per the instructions I found on a Z site, but today when testing on the road it was reaching about 0.5bar then after that it was hesitating and spluttering. Could this be down to a boost leak somewhere maybe? I didnt have an inline filter for the boost pipework but google would suggest that many people run without them.

The car has no misfires or other running issues however I did notice that my Blitz engine monitor picked up a fault on the knock sensor circuit... this wouldnt affect things would it?

thanks for any input! just want my car to run right and go well lol :thumbup1:

cheers dazza, yeah the poor thing was rotting away so was good to finally get it fitted, think its looked out from the garage at about 6 zeds since I bought it lol.

Well I found the fault, was down to a bad earth!

Now running 15psi quite happily and is the best the Z has ever sounded/driven/felt since I got it!

Next up... Get the Greddy turbos and 555cc injectors fitted that I have in stock! :thumbup1:

Nah dave not yet, the knock sensor fault puts the car into safety boost mode or at least I think thats what I've read before, but now the AVCR is fitted the standard boost solenoids have been unplugged so it shouldnt affect anything with the fault, or so I reckon?

Correct Bazza....... Disconnecting the boost solenoid will not let the system go into safety....

Well done for......

1. Fitting AVCR (at last!!!)

2. Sorting out the problem

2. Getting ur 300 boosting nicely

4. Being a nice bloke...... lol

haha cheers Al :) didnt think it would go into safety boost anymore. So guess the knock sensor is now useless!

Need to do a bit more settign up tomorrow and fine tuning, let the fuzzy logic learn the car, then its good to go!

You Sorted this Baz as my zed is back together and running like a bag of nails see you down work tomorrow

Yeah I'll be down in a bit, not working today but got some bits to sort out!

Could be wrong but think you will still need the knock sensor.ive got an ebc fitted but if still got stock boost solenoids in incase anything goes pearshaped and it can still go into safety boost.

theres no way you can keep the standard boost solenoids fitted and working though otherwise the EBC wont have any control over the boost levels?

Thats odd then, as im sure mine are still fitted........perhaps its just that they havent been removed then

wrong, i still have mine connected, they can force your car into safety mode if you still get the knock sensor fault or other faults. mine still boost and i still have control over the boost levels above stock (im currently running 11psi through my Greddy Profec II spec B)

Jeff also advised me to keep them connected for the safety aspect, just use the tube that would normally go to the inter cooler pipes, T them together and plug them into your boost controllers valve controller.
