I recently bought a compact, thats had the front subframe, and everything on it, from a 328i bolted onto it.

Its a Alusil enigne, which is a bonus as the guy i bought it off didn't know.

The standard 328 exhuast has been custom chopped to fit, to keep it looking oem.

 

It doesn't say sport on the logbook, but it had sport interior, and its got the M bumpers, but not sideskirts. Ive fitted M sideskirts.

Its got a facelift grill on it for some reason.

 

The interior has been stripped as the last owner wanted it as a track car. Carpet, seats, headlining etc is all gone.

 

It has the standard 318 rear axle, which has a small case diff. I plan to upgrade to an LSD, a Z3M or e30 diff will fit.

Its on standard suspension, with the fronts being from the doner car.

Ive bought some £200 ebay coilovers, hottuning.

 

It came on 16's, which are too small. I haven't decided on wheels yet, but im thinking the BBS's will be going on.

 

How i got it...

 

 

 

Trialed a wheel from the 7 series.. The tyre that was on it was too big, so i didn't lower the jack.

 

 

Just played about with the wheels ive got.

 

I decided i wanted a respary. It didn't need a full respray, but it did need some paint, and i hate cars that look painted. So much so, that im thinking about getting the M3 a full respray just to it looks right.

 

I had in my head, i wanted Imola Red. Its such a nice colour, and ive never seen a Compact done in Imola.

I started a pole on here, and imola red was most popular, just.

 

I went to the paint shop, and seeing the colour, it just looked to plain and boring. I had a picture in my head of how nice it would look, but the red just looked wrong. Im not a fan of red cars, but love Imola.

 

My second choice, was IBIS white, an Audi colour. I said that to the bloke painting it (a mate of mine), and he got all excited saying how nice it would look.

We bought everything needed to prep the car, but i didn't buy the paint, just the primer. I didn't want to make a rush decision, id regret.

 

With the car flat down, and ready for paint, id made my mind up, it would be Ibis, but with a twist. With it being a track car, i thought it would look good with a black roof. I then thought to follow it to the bonnet and rear spoiler.

 

Its not quite finshed, but i could contain myself, so took some pictures today.

The rear diffuser isn't back on yet, and the mirrors will be black. The spoiler isn't bolted back on yet either.

Looks well smart. I like the colour choices bud. You going for the wheels that are currently fitted to the rear? Keep us updated.

They are the M3 wheels mate, and i put them back on the M3 today.

I think im putting the BBS wheels on, that are on the front.

The fronts are 7.5" wide, the rears 8.5". They are on the M3 in the last picture.

Fronts on VERY low! Needs to come up 10mm or so, rear needs to go down a little.

I'm not a fan of BMW's as such (although I have one of the damn things!), but I really like the concept and how this has turned out. Personally, I wouldn't have gone for the black & white paint job, but I think it looks great and think you've done a great job here.

My zed is in the paintshop now having a very similar paint job, obviously great minds think alike, or we both got the same BAD taste ?
