ive had a few people have sly digs about me putting so many pics on my facebook of mainly ridds and charlie, but the one thing they dont realise im doing-is saving my pics, i take a pic on my phone, upload to facey, save to laptop

its the easiest way to save them, if i lose my phone and my laptop goes off i still have my pics on facey to save again

am i wrong for doing it this way, im using facey as a memory card lol

ive delted loads of people of facey, but they are friendly jokey digs lol

a spade is a spade, i have no trouble voicing my opinion lol, but am i right in using facey as a back up?

i would never use facebook or any sites on the internet that show my kids cos i just don't trust technology and a high percentage of untrustworthy sorts that abuse them.the world is not full of good folk as we'd like to believe. why not save them directly to your desktop and back up with a memory stick . not digging at you there pal it's just my opinion cos of the scumbag society that seems to surround us nowadays.

There is probably better ways, take a look at the iCloud service, most phones can use it or even come with it pre-installed. You can have it do it completley automatically and then everything is secure and private. There are others, but iCloud is the one that comes to mind.

I would'nt trust Facebook for permanent storage of important pics you want to keep. Plus, they frown upon using it for naked pics of the missus, so got to find somewhere else for them.

I would guess they probably commented as every time you do it you fill up their facebook news wall with all the pics.

agreed..... once your stuff is on Facebook it's no longer your property....

i have an external hard drive... (an old one that I put in a housing , cheap as chips) and i back up all my stuff to that as well as to DVD every once in a while.

if i loose internet connection or Facebook goes down / bust / gets hacked. i still have all my stuff...

so, like mellow says, there's nothing wrong with it, it's just not secure enough for me...

Alan, get your yourself a small external hard drive from somewhere like PC World. Not expensive these days. I also copy them to CD and put them in the fireproof safe in the loft.

Id be gutted if I lost the family pics. everything else can be replaced.... but the memories..

Give me a shout if you need a hand and Ill pop through.. Still need to pop to yours anyway with the chainsaw..

Incidentally, FB is a place to share whats going on in your life, thats why they created the timeline...

Do what you feel is right, i do....i'm not going to pass away having regrets...

That's exactly what I do as well - I salvaged the hard drive from my old laptop and (thanks to advice from Voddy) bought a hard drive caddy off Ebay for less than a tenner. Works great and stores shed loads of photos!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
