Had to stop working to care for disabled family member, Im now returning to work.

How can I stop our benefits? its a joke, over 3 hours on the phone, passed from pillar to post, seems like no one knows how to stop benefits being paid?

Anyone got any advice? dont want to get done for fraudulently working and claiming at the same time.

lmao.

But in all seriousness,

I called to stop my benefits, and they offered me extra benefits!?!?! - Im white British, with a common English Accent, so dont know whats going on, they are normally racist against brits - over compensating on equal rights to appear not racist to non Brits :s

They said, well I cant stop your existing benefits, but I can offer you a grant to help with buying work wear, and offer you £40 a week tax free on top of your wages for the first 12 months of your return to work.

Thats all fine and dandy, but i need to stop the claim I got. no wonder the country is in such a state, they just want to give it all away.

I cant wait!

mate go to your local services or civic centre, tell them the situ and get a reciept (make sure you get a reciept) if they keep paying you after that then keep the money, they wont have a leg to stand on

they moan that money is wasted on benefits yet they do silly things like this, they havent a fookin clue

Good plan. Thanks for the advice, Stella Advice, no Pun intended :P

i can see what's going on here, they will keep you signed on then stop your benefit when they find out your working, so they can then do you for fraud......(well wouldn't surprise me)

the £40 a week, is a back to work bonus for getting a job so nothing to worry about there, but would be up to you if you claimed it or not.

Have you tried telling them you are British?!

Thats the last thing they want to hear! lol...you will be at the back of that phone queue listening to Mozart for hours!!

Just put any money they pay you to one side, so when they ask for it back you can give it to them, same happened to me with child tax credit, it's like banging your head against a brick wall.

Paul

have you tried writing a letter to them explaining your situation in detail, and that you have started work and wish your out of work benefits to be stopped, and that you have contacted the helpline and nothing's been done? keep a copy and send the original RECORDED delivery and keep the receipt!
