Hi guys, just a little DIY tip here, incase anyone wants to spray niggly parts on their cars.....

(**I hope this is in right section, if not feel free to move it :D and delete this comment**)

Firstly you need to remove the part your spraying, for this guide, im showing you a piece I took from my old ST500.

As you can see in the picture I had pre paint cleaning wipes to wipe the surface removing any contaniments. This is essential, if it is not perfectly clean, dry and grease free, you WILL have bubbling, peeling, flakey paint at the end of the day.

Next you need to spray the primer, its best to follow the same direction, back and forth, either up and down OR left to right, not both. If doing engine parts or brake calipers, ensure your using High temperature Primers. As I was spraying a plastic part, which doesnt get so hot, I used a plastic primer which is much thicker, and gives a smoother overall finish.

Leave to dry

You need to spray the background colour on last. So tape up the background with masking tape in this case the background was Black, and the foreground lotus scandal green.

Ok so on goes the foreground colour, spray in the same way as the primer, but as this is top colour, you will need 2 coats minimum - allow first to dry before applying second:

Once dry, cover the foreground colour with vaseline, prior to removing the tape, it doesnt need to be a thick covering, but you want to make sure you cover it 100%, I used my finger tip to apply the vaseline to the foreground.

Before removing the tape, wash our hands thoroughly to remove any grease, as if it touches the background, the background colour wont stick.

next, apply the background colour all over, again a minimum of two coats will be needed and spray in one direction, not multiple:

Leave to dry 100%.

Next you just wipe it over, the loose paint on the vaseline, just falls off:

once finished you should have something similar to this:

If this guide helps you, feel free to add me rep :P

Yeah, I used some stuff I bought from a model shop called Humbrol Maskol for some small intricate masking, basically latex, paint it on, do your spaying, then peel it off. I use vaseline when siliconing bathrooms/kiktchens too, if there's bits I don't want it to stick to. Good write up mate :)
