Power increase

Hi guys

If a TT has 280bhp standard, I assume thats withs cats? If so what is the bhp without cats (approx)? Also does fitting a stainless steel performance exhaust up the bhp much? Another query, I now have 17 inch alloys with 265/40 tyres, if I want to fit 18's, will this slow the cars acceleration, or just slowly bugger the transmission, mines a manual.

Standard they have 300bhp.

It was 280bhp in 96-onwards, becuase of the variable valve times was removed.

I think you'll find only only the US-Spec Zeds lost the VVT on post 96 models.

According to the J-Spec fiche, they are listed all the way upto & including the 2000 model.

Exhaust, expect 20-25+ bhp.

Cat, dunno, but quicker spool up

BHP on the US cars is 300 and UK 280 beacuse bhp is measured differently. Then like sprae says, later years, even less, around 20bhp less.

The next best thing is to replace the intake box with something like a JWT pop filter or K&N cone. good money for power.
