For months I've been trying to find the source of a rattle / knock from somewhere in the back. I checked the rear suspension etc but no joy. Then finally tried popping the hatchback release while driving over a rough road. Instant silence. Cure was to loosen and reset the fixed lock plate so it held the door closed tighter. Rattle was coming from the lock mech.

I have an irritating knock from the rear. It happens when ever I go over 70MPH..Ithink its my conscience telling me that 80 mph is not too bad but 140 is taking the mickey.

Secret was not to force it down just move it slightly to the side. In my case towards the offside did the trick

Hi,

You can also prevent rear hatch rattles by adjusting/turning the rubber stops, either side of the hatch.
