the key can only be removed from the door when its locked, when unlocked it wont turn enough for the key to be removed, needs a qauter of a turn more but its wont turn anymore

 

any ideas or is it a new lock?

Yep I had that problem two weeks ago, a bt of WD40 into the lock and work the key and its fine again:cool2:

WD40 actually stands for 'Water Displacement', and is the 40th formula they came up with (useless info), but it isn't really a proper lubricant, get yourself a tin of silicone or PTFE lubricant (PTFE stand for poly tetra flouro ethene, I know what everything stands for, bit like the rain man!), it's fantastic stuff....

never knew that! I prefer GT85.. thats ptfe based and better than wd... and smells much better lol

its a pvc front door to my house im talking about by the way lol

 

lmfao Allan:lol: I have fitted lots of uPVC doors and locks and that sounds like a faulty lock. You should be able to take the key barrel out (one screw holding it on edge of door) check and see if it is working properly and if it is then it must be the lock which is faulty.

ive just took it to bits and i think the latch on the lock has jumped, only a tenner to replace so no biggy lol
