decat pipes/lambda sensors

Hi All,

Spoke to a guy at the local tyre/exhaust place about decatting my front pipes. He started umming and arring about pipe diameter and lambda sensors.

Two questions:

1. What diameter are the stock front pipes on a 1990 Jap auto?

2. Is any special consideration needed for the lambda sensors or will the engine management compensate for them being disconnected?

3. Ooops, I know I said two - I seem to remember somebody mentioning some hoses running from the pipes - what are they and can they be blanked off??

4. (taking the p*** now!) has anyone got any aftermarket decat pipes for sale??

Cheers!!

1. Not sure, US guys often talk about 2.25" pipes

2. The lambda sensors(or O2 sensors) are not disconnected - that are located in the turbo castings. However, the cat temp sensors can just be disconnected and tucked up inside the body.

3. EGR or AIV ? Plenty of tech advice on that - try a search

4. All decat pipes are 'aftermarket' smile.gif. Call MJP or Johnny

Thanks Andy, by 'aftermarket' I meant purpose built rather than a pair of hacked and welded Nissan pipes.

Cheers,

Hi Rob

I have a pair for sale in the For sale forum cheaper than the dealers as I used them for about 50 miles but had noise problems with super dragger exhaust without cats on a NA. Anyway the front pipes have two sensors for the cat temp which are about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. The lamda's are on the manifold exhaust section. The two pipes which feed into original cat front pipes I have heard various reasons for them (ie to flush out cats...etc) but you can just strip them back as far as possible and leave them open. Drop me a mail if your interested.

The pipes have cat temp sensor fitments ? Really ????

Are you sure these aren't for AIV|EGR (must remember which is which as my car has neither) fitment.
