Hi guys and girls i have been searching on here in regards to setting up my timinig but cant find an answer for my question.

I checked my timing today and found it to be at 13/14 tdc however when i tried to adjust it the cas unit does not seem to turn either way? Also can you adjust the cas/timing with the engine running? i was turning off and trying to adjust it to be on the safe side.

Im using a timinig light and jeffs write up but its not clear if you adjust the timing with the engine running or not. if it is meant to be running will this be why the cas unit does not move with the engine off?

Thanks

loosen the 3 bolts that hold the unit down ... u may need to Tap it to make it rotate as the alloy gets corroded

other than that set it and re-tighten bolts

well to get it loose yes .. but u need to ajust it with the engine running to get timing spot on ...

right i see i wasnt sure i could do it with the engine running as knowing my luck something would move and ill end up with bent valves!

na u wont brake the engine or valves the worst that will happen if u get it wrong is it will missfire

Yep, it's electronic timing, not mechanical timing, worst that'll happen is it will run shite, if yours is an auto or it's had a manual conversion AND the neutral switch HAS been connected, it should be 15 degrees BTDC, if it has had a manual conversion and the neutral switch has NOT been connected, it should be set to 25 degrees BTDC, all this being with the engine fully warmed up...
