Hi all,

I was driving home earlier, cruising along at about 55mph in 5th. Suddenly the car started misfiring pretty violently (was previously misfiring very mildly on idle). I pulled over and stopped, the car then wouldn't idle. If I turn the car on it will idle at about 500rpm for a few seconds before going lower and then dying.

I've managed to get the car home now, any idea what it could be? The misfire I thought may be an injector, but that wouldn't explain the idling issue? Vacuum lines possibly?

I fitted new spark plugs last week if that makes any difference (NKG PFR 6b 11 etc...). The car has been driving great with them, but is it possible that one of them has failed?

Any ideas? Or is it totally borked?:crying:

think you can get it to wellingborough bud? i can have a look for you unless your in later? ive got a spare PTU you can try on it.

have you checked all your connections? ie PTU, MAF, TPS etc? you could give em all a clean and see if that helps. My car was running like a dog not too long ago, and it was a combination of faulty MAF (wet) and dirty connectors. a little TLC and she started purring beautifully.

I've got a series one PTU I believe. Would that fail so suddenly? I'll get a chance to look at it tonight so will check out the various connectors and get back to you...

Ian, cheers for the offer, although I'm not keen on driving it in this state... I'll have a look at it tonight and see what's what. Is there an easy way to test the PTU?

Thanks all :-)
