Jerky auto

Hi All,

Since I bought my Jap Auto 1990 TT I've been a bit concerned about the way it changes gear. 1st to 2nd is not smooth at all - I seem to have to wait for it and then it snaps into gear - doesn't look too cool...

3rd to 4th is a bit odd too - Unless I hammer it it seems 'ponderous', as it changes it feels as though it's weight has doubled - hard to describe really...

Never been in a different Z so dunno if this is normal.....anyone?? Do I have a solenoid problem??

Cheers!!

Try a diagnostic first and see if anything pops up.

Then try changing the fluid out and see how it goes. If not get a consult done by Nissan on the box and then if it needs any work doing - take it from there.

Just a thought on auto's its really important to change oil often!!

about 4k-5k if not more(if u drive hard)

and all the oil doesn't come out when you drain it(it stays in the torque converter)

so don't write the box off straight away give it plenty of changes(every weekend till the oil is the same colour as whats going in)ok

if it it just the oil the box will get smoother as cleaner oil gets around

Also if the kickdown cable is too tight the box wont change up correctly so try that!!!

this is just advice off previous experience

so just some to try!!hope it works out? wink.gif

I've had some dodgy changes that I thought could have been solenoids.

As well as running the diagnostic, you can also check the solenoids with a multimeter at the connector to the computer. Its all in the autobox manual (somewhere on this site?)

Didn't find my problem but its worth a go.
