Theres an old saying that goes, "The law is an ass"

Scots law is really mixed up ? Everywhere else there is two verdicts, guilty and not guilty ? In Scotland we have a third verdict, not proven.

My wife Fiona`s mum was knocked down with a bus in 2010, suffered severe injuries and died 3 hours later in hospital through her injuries.

It went to court this week and after a 4 day trial, guess what ??? Not Proven ! He walked totally free !

Please dont misunderstand me, I am perfectly sure he never woke up that morning and went out to run somebody over, and accidents do happen, but it makes we wonder !

Anyways, we can now draw a line under it and move on. Apoligies for the wee rant, but I feel it for my wife. Clip from todays Sunday Mail if anybody fancies a read.

I considered myself really lucky. I had a mother-in-law that was a star !

Kinda feel sorry for the bus driver, and kinda dont, if that makes sense ?

My only defence is its still raw !

After nearly two years, its over, and thats a relief.

Alan....

that's a terrible law, and a terrible thing to happen mate, i would be fuming but as you i would probably feel a little sorry for the driver, although his fault he has to live with it

but still if he did thing's properly then it wouldnt have happened

as said, rant away mate

Cheers Allan,

I did think at one point, I hope he gets punished in some form. Not a custodial sentence, but at least a ban or fine ?

It is a coont of a junction, I know, I stay here, and folks cross from all angles ? And then a wee guilty bit of me thinks, how many laws did I break on the daily 70 mile commute every day ?

We have had almost two tears to mull this over and too be honest, its still no easier ?

Alan..
