Looks like im gonna have to take plenum off and check fuel rail. Dilemma time then tho. Do i get another standard set or get some 555's while its back off?????

Really am in two minds whether to keep throwing money at it or if i need to call it a day with it. Especially if i do spend more on it and it still doesnt start.

As i said in a previous thread when people asked how i cope with mine, its the most simple of problems, its usually finding the damn thing that wares you down.

Trust me on this, if its getting sparks, and there is fuel going to the fuel rail, then the most obvious port of call would be the injectors.

Reason being, if there was fuel in the cylinders and you were firing, it would at least attempt to start.

Now if its flooded, its not going to start, so spark plugs out over night, try again in the morning, if that doesnt do it, id stick some stock injectors in, rather than spending out on 555's

Its a good idea to get it working first before trying to upgrade and find out its something else. but personally sat for 4 years not doing anything, most likely injectors.

you should buy your mate's Z... ;)

I'm sorry to hear that its still not going dave... keep at it as its surely something simple... imagine the feeling when she strikes up... :thumbup1:

take the cas unit off and turn it by hand you should hear each injector Click

this will rule out two things

injectors and cas unit working or not

Its a very nice z, but i prefer mine..... at least i will when it runs .

If i was to sell mine now i dont think i would want another one as i would feel defeated by it and would always wonder what it would of been like after all the time/money spent on it.

Already done that and cas working fine and made injectors trigger and electric fan comes on.

fuel pump working ?

could have a duff fuel pressure regulator

kink the return fuel line and see if it fires

Ye. Its priming up, so can only assume its working properly.

you cant say the injectors are working just because you can here them clicking. you need to get them flow tested first. thats the only sure fire way to say if they are squirting fuel into the cylinders.

Mikey bean says the cylinders were dry, Dave said he noticed one was wet, but didn't say if it smelt strongly of fuel

given everything thats been said and done, the one thing that hasn't been properly tested is the injectors and thats the main way to get fuel into the cylinders.

its all most the same problem i had

non fire but then it would a little and run

but carnt drive it ...

regulator wasnt doing what it should off

Had a day off today so bk onto the z in morning before i go to work. Hoping i maybe find the answer to the problem.

after removing all the plugs i have fuel in cylinders 1,2,4 and dry in 3,5,6. So am thinking maybe injectors blocked.

Not happy about having to retake plenum off but needs must.

Lets hope then it will work.

Just done a injector test today and all 6 are firing, all 6 are reading between 12.3ohm and 12.4ohm. Rechecked all coilpacks and plugs individually and all 6 are sparking.

So am gonna put everything back togethet and try again.

If this doesnt work i'll change the fuel regulator and see what happens.

surely it cant be much owt else stopping it from starting even if its lumpy when if it does start.

Fingers crossed,lol.

Well its trying for gold to start, but still remains elusive to start.

Cant understand why as everything is now checking out as it should.

Did you check the ECU plug mate?-take it off and re-seat it just for me!

Then we'll go from there.I take it she's firing then, just not run?

Gonna' be something really silly I reckon, like the Cas connector,PTU etc.Deffo sounds like ignition prob.Is the loom in decent nick? any iffy wires on the Ptu harness?

Daft question but have you checked the ignition timing with a gun?-should get a idea cranking it.

Could it have anything to do with the cold start auxiliary air system not functioning?

Almost sounds like it wants to run but has no initial over fuelling/additional air being supplied.

Maybe that after standing for a while the auxiliary air device has seized in the closed position?

Or would it still fire up anyway?

It would with a bit of throttle.......

Meant to add, deffo set on no'1 tdc?

Havent got a timing gun, and have got lightwieght pulley on.

Tbh dont know if its set at no1 tdc.

How can i check for that please?

air filters look ok not blocked ?

Ive got k&n filter on. Cleaned it before reffitting. All pipes connected properly.

Pop out no' 1 plug, turn crankshaft until the lower mark (don't go by the lightweight pulley marks if it has em') on the belt sprocket is lined up with the mark on the casing.Using a long probe (long screwdriver will do) check no'1 piston is at the top of it's stroke.Rocking the engine forward and back will ket you feel when it's at TDC.Deffo a check worth doing mate or you could be chasing your tail!

If Mikey put the timing gear together it'll be spot on, trust me on that one.

I have a gun you can borrow Dave, but without a proper front crank pulley, it could be hard to check and time it up, so maybe better to put a standard pulley on it, just to get it timed up? Then once it is, replace with the lightweight one? I say this because the CAS has an awful lot of angle on it and where a loose engine might start up with the CAS being completely out, a new tight one might not?
