today my work involved a drive up to nairn then inverness for a few surveys then home. first off i had some idiot try to overtake me while i was overtaking a corsa he clipper my wing mirror on the van never stopped now i have a broken mirror.

to the top gear bit

yesterday i filled the van up with diesel and went round my local jobs. set off this morning for nairn knowing i had plenty diesel however when i was about to set off back home from nairn the sat nav said i had 179 miles till home and the diesel meter read 171 not a problem i thought il fill up on the way down around the forth road bridge but no even though thats about 30 miles from my house i was about 10 miles from the bridge when the gauge read 0 managed to get to the petrol station to realise i didnt have my wallet. so had £6.60 in my pocket put that it now it says 34 miles and sat nav says 32 till home so spent those miles nursing the van slowly to conserve fuel so i could get to my house get my fuel card and go another 3 miles back to the petrol station. needless to say about 2 miles before my house the guge went to 0 again but i managed with the van stuttering quite a bit to get home and to the petrol station to fill it back up lol

least it made my drive interesting lol

lmao awesome!

i remember when i used to work for a company called Belgrade installation, installing cavity wall insulation, we had a few jobs in slough at the time, filled the van up before we set off, finished around 3pm, and got caught in traffic coming back, just came out of olney along the A509 and got to the BP garage, where me mate said think we need to pull over for some fuel, lights been on for ages now. just as we pulled into the forecourt the van cut out and we rolled up to the pumps only to notice all the bloody diesel pumps were out, had to call the boss so he could go get a jerry can of diesel so we could get to the next garage lol

I did get stuck behind a bunch of Japanese tourists in NZ who'd bought some passion wagon to travel around NZ in, they'd filled up somewhere before Auckland and headed north, they had slightly misjudged the lack of frequency in petrol stations outside of Auckland and "whoops" lol. One thing to remember in NZ, when you see a petrol station, fill up!!!! If you don't know the place, you could go a LONG way without seeing another. :D

Brilliant!

I must admit I often play that game..... when the reserve light comes on, I switch the display to show how many miles I have left and then try to go beyond that!

When it gets down past about 10 miles, the display switches to a picture of the car next to a petrol pump. Nuisance really, as the display on my old car would actually go down to "zero" miles left!!

Either way, when I do refuel, it still only takes about 67 litres (71 litre tank); so I still have almost a gallon left. And that's probably 25 miles!!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My astra does this, apart from its at about 15 miles it just goes to two dashes, the light starts to flash (bearing in mind probably already done 40 miles on reserve + lol) and the satnav forcefully asks me to refuel and offers to navigate to a petrol station... The best I have ever managed is 49 litres into a 51 litre tank...lol
