Sounds as though pads are clapping on the disc...???? Any ideas?? Cheers Guys

You did put the metal backing plates in when you changed the pads right? without those you will get pad rattle and funny noises.

Also there is alot of other info in that thread i linked on checks to perform and narrowing it down...

yeah everything is put back correct... suppose warped disc is a possibility but i cant see how that would make a noise like that?? i think i will have to get back underneath and start bush and ball joint testing.....

can be caused by a hot spot or mark on the disc. It might not really be described as a warp, and therefore not cause pulsing through the pedal or be apparent when braking from high speed etc, but it is most likely an irregularity on the surface of the disc.

ok cheers to everyone i will look into it and tell you all what i find....

Have you checked the two nuts that hold the track control arm to the bottom arm , if these aren,t tight enough you get a knock when you first brake as the movements being taken up , just a thought as you said it was happening before doing your brakes , also check the bottom arms havn,t cracked around these nuts as that,s quite a common as well . HTH

isnt that quite common with adjustable track rods?

Quite common with poly-bushed front tension rods, the track rods are unlikely to crack the lower arm.
