Where to get a crank lightened and balanced?

Ok, so I started stripping down the engine out of the WASP tonight, plenum is off and completely stripped, ready for Rose to start polishing it after it's been de-gunked, then it's going for an acid dip and a finish/re-polish by Rose when it comes back.

While starting to strip it down, I started to think about a few things and Mikey mentioned earlier tonight, before he moved out :cry:, that you can send your crank away to be lightened and balanced, rather than buying an aftermarket one, which is sold as lightened and balanced. Seems to me lightened and balanced is lightened and balanced, so anyone know where one might send it?

A well maintained zed engine isnt going to break with a few mods.

My last 300zx the red one that jim ended up breaking, was pushing 16psi on the turbos, and that thing was fast has hell and very reliable, and had been like that for a good 7 years, but it was also very well maintained by its previous owners and me.

Njmworsley, if your going for more power id ditch the autobox, they are great and reliable regardless of the horror posts put up, but only if kept with a stock engine, from what i can tell the Auto usually knackers as people tend to treat it like a manual and give it the welly which i dont think it can handle when you start putting a lot of horse power through it.

These engines have been given a lot of stick, but then the punishment most people give the engine and gearbox, im not surprised. a well maintained stock zed should last just as long as any car out there. start abusing it and things are going to start going wrong.

You have to remember, most people come to a forum for help with issues, not to praise how well the engine and gear box has lasted, so most people only see the issue side of things. i know of a lot of zeds that haven't had gearbox or engine issues when maintained well and treated well.

there are a lot of zeds still on the same engine after 20 years

well put as always vodkashots, i think your right about ditching the box tbh i wouldnt say i rag the car but im not shy of giving it the beans between the lights i dont do the whole speed thing run though it just not for me i just think it put too much strain on every part of the car.

i think the conversion and a map are the way forward for me maybe some bigger injectors for safteys sake.
