Reason I'm asking is a French eBay user has made an offer on my MR2 that I would be willing to accept, but I'm a bit apprehensive as I've never sold a car to someone from a different country lol

As long as he is prepared to travel AND has paid up front then you should be OK.

If he starts saying things like; I'll meet you at a service station, or asks for your bank details then I'd tell him to go forth and multiply.

You've been trying to sell that for ages and French used car values are a lot higher than here. I'd say you're welcome to buy it, just turn up at my house with the cash in your pocket and its yours. Oh and leave it on Ebay until you meet him. My opinion is that he'd get as far as Sheffield and think 'Fook this' and wave the white flag while quickly retreating to Calais.

Nothing to loose IMO

Hi there i sold a GTO TT to a lad that came all the way from finland and a Jaguar Sovereign to a chap from france, They buy the cars here Coz they are worth twice as much on there end, All you can do is hope they are not time wasters really, Sadly there a LOADS about on eBay, Believe me i know all about it....... Cheers, wilcoes.....

I sold a car to someone from Latvia on ebay, he arranged the collection and the driver paid me cash when he turned up, and I've sold a few cars to lads from Poland. the main thing is communication, as long as they keep you informed of what they are doing then it is easier to believe they are going to be genuine, but that said there are messers on ebay.

In all fairness, ive sold loads of stuff overseas, and i haven't got a bad word to say about any of them.

Thanks guys I've just never done it before so wasn't sure how it worked most of the time (after hearing about the "I'll get it shipped to me, give me your bank details" scenarios lol)

The guy just did a best offer on eBay but I've sent him a message to clear up some things first, so fingers crossed then it's Turbo Miata time ;)

I advertised my Chevy Camaro on Ebay, with a buy it now price. Long story short, after a few emails back and forth, a chat on the phone, I picked Andres up from Edinburgh Airport, he paid cash and asked for the postcode for the ferry at Hull to put in his sat-nav !! He came from Norway, and a nice guy.

Got an email from him 3 days later saying the car drove perfect and he said thanks etc. Also attached a picture where some dozy trucker had reversed into it boarding the ferry and smashed the nose-cone !!

Communication is the key mate, and cash helps as well !

Alan....

sold my uk supra to a german guy and had no prob, just make sure you've got cleared funds or pound notes you can take to bank to make sure they are genuine before you release the car.

Hello,

I go to the United Kingdom next week.

I own a transport company in France (excellenceprestation.fr).

The payment in cash.

The car will be recovered on a recovery truck.

Can you pass me the link of your ad, I can not find more on ebay

I'm looking for a car UK only, no Japonese (no JDM) because I could not register it in France

A question: what are the parts to be replaced soon? the vehicle does it work normally?

Sound legit you guys reckon?

I'd say go for it, I sold a GTR to someone from sweden, and a GTST to someone from belgium, the latter was picked up on a recovery truck and no problems with either sale.

as long as he or someone gives you good old british pound notes when the car is pick up then let the car go. Make sure you fill out the export part of the log book and it will be fine. I sold a scooby to a guy in sweden and i had no problems.

Sold the last two cars abroad, Germany and Portugal, EVO was collected but haulage company and an envelope full of cash, no problems!
