There are so many website who say we'll sell it for so Much etc but it's not worth £000's

It's a great plate for Z owners btw

OKZ 2455 if anyone wants to make me an offer :shifty:

Is there a proper valuation website that anyone knows of ? :online2long:

Yep deffo a northern Ireland plate

There are just so many different prices out there I suppose it's worth what people want to pay for one.

Not a lot as an Irish plate unfortunatly. The "MY Z" irish plates were going for about £150 previously

cant remember if it was regtransfer but i have FFZ3100 availlable and regtransfer made me an offer over an online valuation

Several years ago I sold an Irish plate. Dil 3251. Got about £700 for it selling privately thru BMW magazine. Was about twice as much as the specialised reg companies offered to give me if they sold it. The Market may have changed now but it may be worth trying some carefully placed private ads?

Its deffo an irish plate,Ive got CAZ 8621 on retention and been offered £450-£500

Yep definately a NI plate

talking of plates how much do you think my 'N15MO' plate is worth?

I wish!! :whistling:

reg transfers offer low prices. I valued mine (A2 NPS) on there and there offered a sale price of £1500 for it.

others have valued it at £1800. So maybe best to place adds privately as already suggested.

Worth what someone is willing to pay and in these financial times probably not a lot. The online comapnies always seem to advertise high prices giving people false expectations, but they are open to offers, often don't own the plates themselves and price them high to get a decent commission.

I bought a plate. It was advertised on a dealer site for £2500 and looking at other similar plates may suggest its worth that type of money. I paid £800 straight to the owner. Its a buyers market and unless a plate has a usp they're not worth as much as people seem to believe.

I had N500DTM on my DTM Edition Calibra ('N' reg, 500 produced and obviously a DTM) and that cost £250 including the £80 transfer fee, so the majority if plates arent worth a lot, unless someone really wants it.

No idea what the plate is supposed to mean.

So i'll value it at 3 pints of lager and a packet of crisps. :pinch:

Whats the sotry with you guys and plates over there, they all seem to be almost random number plates? here a standard numberplate is always 3 letters 3 numbers.... ie... ABC 123

Personalised plate you can have any 6 characters you like.

Just wondering why all the plates you guys have are of value as personalised? can somebody explain the difference from your standard issue plates?

Firstly old, old style number plates, which were 3 letters, 1-999 number, then another letter, EG:

ABC 1A

DCE 34T

FAT 713S

Old style number plates = Letter, 1-999 number then 3 more letters. For example:

A1 ABC

B23 CDE

C456 FGH

New style: 2 letters, two numbers and three letters. EG:

AA 01 ABC - 1st half of year

AA 51 ABC - 2nd half of year

Then you also have Northern Ireland plates, generally: 3 letters followed by 4 numbers, EG:

PDY 1234

Finally, you have private plates which were available from the DVLA on request or by bribe which could be any combination of letters and numbers (within reason), EG:

A1

ED 5

5 EXY

RJ 23

PAB 432

etc, etc

So, pretty much you can have any combination you like - but most of the good ones have gone. Some people genuinely believe it enhances their car, others look at them and think 'you plonker'. Each to their own.

Cheers for explaining it, personalised plates here arn't exactly cheap, last thing to go on the car, although a friend has offered me EV1L Z cheap.

Some of my questionable "associates" have some rather questionable plates ie.

RM4UQT - room for you cutie.

PEDO - self explanitory.

Myself i'm weighing up a few.

ZDZILA

ZEDZLA

VHTTZ

EVLZ32

etc etc.

Was miffed when i missed out on ZXTACY :pinch:

Haha u send it over and don't spill a single drop I may think about it :whistling:

Oh ye cheese and onion flavour please :winkiss:

Plates are valued as much as people are willing to pay to be honest. Itish plates are generally the Cheap alternative to private plates but if you get a special one like Caz or KAZ (which is short for Karen) then they go up.

With no meaning you can get as little as £50 - £80 for them. I had MIB 9136 which i got for about £120. but then when the Men In Black film was popular the prices went up.

I can't really see any point in it if all you can really acheive is acronyms followed by meaningless numbers. :confused1:

The cheaper plates are a nice way of disguising the true age of the vehicle.

They aint all meaningless numbers though, mine is 69 (my favourite number ) and it aint even a private plate
