Oil filter wrench

Can anybody please point me in the right direction to purchase a 'socket' type oil filter wrench for the Z??

Tried all the usual motor factors who imply that I am insane and such a thing only exists in science fiction (w*nkers!!)

Cheers!

Nightmare to get off anyway, I have a chain type jobby and I'm bolloxed if I know any way of getting the bloody thing on! Screwdriver jabbed in seems the easiest way to get them off IMO as Macca pointed out to me. wink.gif

I never have any trouble taking my ones off. Half the time I am able to take it off using a cloth and turning it with both hands. Considering you are only meant to tighten it by hand then another 1/4 to 1/2 turn.

I have one of the chain type things and if you cable tie the chain to the handle so that the loop is the right size before you offer it up to the filter it makes life a lot easier.

OK, thanks guys, I've tried snap-on in the UK - about £8 but a 4-6 week wait :-(

I don't have a prob getting the filter off, but tightening it without crushing it (fatal to circulation) is an issue. I have a strap wrench but have managed to dent filters using it in the past (clumsy ass!)

Champion make the socket type, I'll call them today and see if they do the right size. Do the Z31 and Z32 use the same filter?

cheers!

Halfords sell the ones with the nylon strap. They may even sell the chain one.

The filter should only be hand tightened!!!! I have fitted them b4 with the car jacked up only a few inches and managed.... its just getting your arm in the right place wink.gif Don't forget to apply some oil to the seal as well....

It's supposed to be 2/3 - 3/4 of a turn after the seal makes contact. I reckon given the location of the filter this would be a lot easier with the cap wrench than with hand(S)

I'm the same as Andy, only ever done them up with my hands (even on the Ren where you can only just get your hand to it), and never had a leak (touches wood)..

Which reminds me to get off my lazy arse and do an oil change this weekend.

It helps if you wear the Wife's washing up gloves...gives a much better grip when re tightening the filter! biggrin.gif

Machine Mart do one in their catalog it has three arms ad fits on to a 1/2 inch socket wrench

regards!

Aye up Az where you been?

Any chance of that key ring you promised me, given that I sent you an entire center console for free and payed the postage on it for you, a little keyring in return seems like a good deal.
