Does anyone else have this problem???!

I have a 95' 300ZX TT 2+0 and have a problem with it! The car gives out --alot-- of smoke when it's warming up especially out of the left exhaust. The smoke is white and has no gasoline smell! The smoke continues coming out the exhaust until the car has warmed up or I start driving it! has it ever happened to you guys, if yes how did you solve it, will it cause alot of problems?

ThanX

May be just moisture in the exhaust. I asked on TT.net about it, cos I get a puff of white the first time my car goes over 3000rmp in the morning, and I was told its just moisture.

I find this happens if I leave the aircon on without it being on ECON. Hence reving quite high. Otherwise, theres no real problem.

Could be, but even in the afternoon's when it's real hot(28c degrees in my country) I get smoke cumming out my exhaust while I'm warming up my Z!!!

Hi

I wouldnt worry about it but it could be slight wear on your valve stem oil seals allowing a small amount of oil to seap into the bores. As soon as you start up the oil burns away and the smoke clears this is Quite common on lots of cars.

Hi

sorry my posting refers to blue smoke not white does the engine feel slightly lumpy/ misfire when you first start up but clear later

The engine feels fine when I start it up and later on when driving, it runs really smooth!

And about the oil I keep checking it everyday and the level doesn't change!!!

It could be condensation somewhere in the system but why does it happen in the afternoon when it's very hot! And I'm talking a hellava lot of smoke!

what type of exhaust system do you have one?

And if its condensastion it wont happen when the weather is warm. As it could be water vapour in the exhaust system. But if its only happening on one side, it might be a turbo going bad.

everything is stock on the car, nothing has been modified (yet) and it has 45000miles on it, just changed oil, oil filter and petrol filter!

If it is the turbo why does it give out pure white smoke (with no gasoline smell) only when the car is warming up (when it's cold), why doesn't it give out smoke after the car warm's up? and the car performs ok!!!

Blue smoke= oil

White smoke= water (cooling liquid or just condensation)

Black smoke= Too much fuel (and gasoline smell)

A cold turbo (w/o ball bearings) can leak a little oil when revving the engine (DON'T do this, wait till it's hot).

How do you think I should sort the problem out? Considering there's white smoke coming out my exhaust pipes (alot more out of the left) when the car is cold and is idle!!!

What should I do?

No the coolant level is at H and it doesn't move!!! (oh yeah by the way What should I use to refill it when it runs out?)

Can somebody help me plz!!!

Does the engine run slightly lumpy when the white smoke appears if so it might be related to Head gasket??

No there's no water in oil checked that and the engine doesn't run lumpy when smoke is coming out, I went to a mechanic today and he reckons that the turbo is going on it. I must say I'm not very convinced though. But I can't find any other answer!

WEIRD!!!

Mine does similar in that I get a puff of smoke from each exhaust the first time I kick it (immediately it gets hot frankly). I'm thinking that it is because the turbos form a very low point in the air induction pipework and any seepage (oil on mine) lays in this low point in 1 puddle. Doesn't clear until the airflow gets to a certain velocity (I.e. turbos spin up), when it clears in 1 hit. Have you tried taking the plenum tube from 1 of the turbos before you warm it up to see whats in there?
