Brakes Creaking:

Front brakes due for pad replacement. Putting some in this weekend. However front calipers are making a "creaking" sound when applying the brake. How do I eliminate this and which parts need to be greased? Stupid question I know but I'm no mechanic.Thanks.

It probably wont be your calipers creaking. Mine used to make a noise when I applyed brakes really hard while the car is stationary. Change your pads first and then see if that fixed the problem. When you take your pads off, get some brake cleaner from you local car store and make sure its all nice and clean before you put your new pads on.

Thanks Stuart. I know from experience that when I changed my pads last time the noise was gone. Still will clean em all up first. Thanks mate.

...they creak if you put too much copperslip (if thats what its called)on the back of the pads when you re-assemble them. Keep it real thin.

good luck
