Basically I wanted to pump out some water which is quite shallow but in a fairly large area.

Its only 0.5m deep, infact not even that but just for arguments sake. Now I have seen lots of submersible pumps which are fine but I feel that its not really deep enough to submerse the pump and so it'll have a hard time picking up the water.

So what I want is a pump, that has a pipe on the inlet side that can be laid in the water for the pump to draw from rather than the pump drawing through its own backside.

Can anyone recommend something or what to search for? As there are hundreds of options on ebay but they are all the type you simply chuch into a deep pool and have the oulet side in a pipe.

Is this just a one off job and if that is the case, why not use a Karcher and just weigh down the supply hose pipe in the 'pond', it will draw it out when you trigger the lance??

Ah not a bad idea! Yeah its just a one of thing really. Problem is I dont have a karcher...lol and I cant imagine dad would love me borrowing his for that. However its an option!

Im sure a submersible pump would do it but i can imagine it making a row with half of the "inlet area" exposed lol

Yes and that Go compare fella:laugh:

Firstly, is this clean or dirty water? Half a meter is a reasonable depth, most submursible pumps could drain thst down to about an inch. feel free to pm me and send you my mob no. im a swimming pool engineer
