From the link below has anyone ever repaired one of these, are the panels bolt on etc. Looks like a lot of car for not a lot of money, I know these cars can suffer from reliability issues but this looks like a good project as long as there isnt any chassis damage.

Any input welcome guys.

I had a group of friends who had a bodyshop and a workshop a few years back, they took one, straight the chassis out and then cut up a MkII Golf GTi body, stretched it and built it back up, was registered as a 3.8 V8 VW Golf :D

Most projects like this wouldnt be easy doesnt matter whether its a damaged zed or a TVR, just looks like it isnt too badly mechanically damaged.

Sounds like a missile Hollow lol

From the link below why would anyone ever repair one of these? The panels are bolt on and fit terribly. Looks like a lot of fibreglass for a lot of money, I know these cars do suffer from reliability issues but this looks like a absolute money pit waiting to kill me.

Fixed your original comment for you. Sorry, but I'm with Gary on this one - even when the Cerbera was new it was a ball ache. Have a look on Pistonheads for used ones and then see how much most owners have spent in the last few years.

If you want a project, build yourself an Ultima and do the job properly from day zero. I have yet to hear anything good said about a Cerbera. The Chimera was definitely the best TVR reliability wise and even that was crap.

If you are up for it and have the skills then give it a go its just that these cars are unrelible from leaving the factory but they do look and sound great.

Thanks for updating my post Leo, lol, I have looked at Ultima's but they cost a fortune compaired to this as i'd do the work myself.

An Ultima would be aswome though.

Beautiful car, with a sound to die for, but I'd liken it to that bird off the film 'Species'.....loads of pleasure up until the point she decides to bite your head off!

Ok so maybe it won't bite your head off, but it's gonna' cost you a lot of money and pain for not much gain....they aren't that expensive these days anyway to be fair.

Buy a good one from the off I reckon bud

can say the same about the zed's! lol

and why not try something different as said above and re shell it in something different. Transit maybe?

Me and my old man were going to do a tuscan.

Had all the planels well most of the parts anyway. We were going to rebuild it spray it black. sell it on and make a really nice profit.

But my Dad turned around and said no, he said i (me) would want to keep it. which i would so that was the end of that :lol:

Dave for me how many cars have been advertised like a transit with a TVR engine and are up for saie for a fraction of the price thats been put into them,

At least with this for minimum money compaired to a project that potentially every day is another pitfall like trying to fit an tvr engine in aa transit but still there is potential.

I've considered getting a salvaged Chimera once before, saw it on an online auction, but just didn't have the time, space or money to do it. I'd LOVE something to get my teeth into like that, but I can't do it to either of the Z's, because I love driving it too much to do without it, although I have considered buying a shorty that's in really bad condition and stripping it completely, then restoring it over the course of a couple of years. :D

Wish u had done it lol and I dont think there would be anything wrong with keeping it, I have always loved TVR's over the years and tbh this would atm be my only way of owning one.

A customer of mine has Cerbera, I am going to have alook at his this week as he has the engine out it atm to see if it enlightens me to the work required at the front end lol

That would be a project and a half, but as i u say a full restoration is different, a shed load of time but worth it when u see some of the cars out there that have been restored.

John, my mate is selling his cerbera if it is of any interest to you.

well i think you need deep pockets to fix that up. If it was an easy fix then the garage that is selling it would be doing it. Also the front right chassis arm is bent/dented also its going to need vic test and is recorded so will never be worth as much as a non crashed tvr and with fuel prices etc these tvr's are only going to come down in value and there are some about for around £7500 up wards now.

I would really look into repair cost very carfully as i think lower arms, wishbones etc will not be cheap plus all the body work needed.

also bear in mind you cant test drive it and check overheating problems etc.

If your brave enough it is a good project and is probably worth decent money in parts so you may have a fail safe if it goes tits up with the budget

Nice one. Do you have an email? I'll get him to forward details. Also, we will be over in Barrhead next Saturday to pick up my zed. I'm sure he would bring the TVR if you wanted a nosey.
