tyre sizes

ive got standard z tt wheels and tyres.someone said they thaught the tyres were the wrong size. ive got 225/45/17. is this correct and can i put larger width tyres on the back useing the same wheels.also i read that someone has got 45s on the frount and 40s on the back.being rear wheel drive wont it mess up the speedo reading. what should my tyres be as im goin to get some on saturday. thanx

Don't understand, standard sizes are 16" dia and you quoted 17".

 

If you really have standard then you should have :-

Front: 225/50 16

Rear: 245/45 16

 

If you have 17's then about the closest match for the rears would be 245/45 17 or 255/45 17.

my mistake i was goin by memory coz i havnt got my car here its still at nissans. so they will be 16s. are the wheels different sizes then ? i mean in width.

In that case, assuming you have a UK spec then fronts will be 7.5", rears 8.5". If you have import or N/A wheels then they'll be 7.5" all round (unless someone has changed the rears in the past).
