Zedworld Chipped ECU

Hey all,

Once paid this week, I'll be in the position (hopefully) to be able to buy a second (or third) hand Zedworld chipped ECU.

I've a '93 UK TT with an Apexi induction kit and a Mongoose rear system.

Other than fitting the ECU and boost jets - what else needs done to ensure that the whole setup runs ok?

Does the timing need altered? Does the idle speed need raised or lowered?

Answers on the back of a postcard.........or here......please

Shouldn't need to do anything other than swap over the ECU and do your boost jets (be better buying an EBC tho').

I'd check that the cars running well before swapping over i.e. not burning oil misfiring, that sort of thing.

BTW, I know of someone selling one for £50, PM me for details ;)

The car runs well (at the moment), I've just cleaned out all the electrical connectors, fitted new spark plugs, cleaned out the secondary air system and replaced a couple of the brick-hard hoses.

lol. Indeed, but then they should be part of every Z owners checks whether increasing boost or not.

Providing the car has been fully checked for proper running (as above), then there are no additional alterations required.

Would leave us much to do then though would it.....

without having all of the above checked and if needed adjusting are you going to have the confidence to use the extra horses . i personally wanted the full health check on the engine first

All covered in the above statement :winkiss:

Thanks Jeff

On a serious note, when raising boost on your zed engine without the set up been checked and adjusted accordingly its like playing poker blind folded.

At best you will not get the full benefit at worse you could damage your engine....be careful.

Jeff, I'm in the process of getting my knocking engine replaced, and will be fitting an AVCR boost controller at the same time. How much would it cost for you to check over the above items if I was to book the car in when its back on the road?

lol  love your pic's Jeff:biggrin:

A thousand words ..........;)

Have to say that I went down to Zedworld having done an engine (and lots of other stuff!) swap on my car for a health check anyway even though I wasn't looking to raise the boost and was the most useful thing anyone other than me has ever done on my car!

Well worth it whether upping your performance or not.

I'd love to take the Zed down to Jeff to have it checked out, but I live 325 miles away from him and that would cost me in the region of £180 in fuel (there and back).

I'm sure that in the long run (no pun intended), it would be of great benefit to me but in these times of financial hardship - it's just not feasible at this moment in time.

Ive returned 260 miles out of mine to a tank of fuel and im using 555 injectors and can drive quite "heavy" so it shouldnt cost you that much bud.

200-220 out of mine mate, i know how you feel. and filling up is near £95 now :-(

jimmer your lucky, i wish i could get 250 +

Its not luck but state of tune matey,if i drive mine like i stole it.100 miles to a tank.Sensible spurts on the motorway with some bouts of 140 mph plus and i can get 260 miles on a tank.

i think mine is stolen the way i drive it, to be fair i cant not overtake everything that i see :-)

perhaps this is my problem, but even on long steady 70mph 30 mile drives, it uses about an 1/8th of a tank, it literally about 50 miles per 1/4 of a tank my car does...

JIMMER whats your flywheel HP as ive just seen RWHP is 436.... also how do you rate the detchewerke injectors compared to JECS. as i see you run them :-0

Deatschwerks injectors are more reliable than Jecs in my experiance. Only as I know of 2 sets developing problems in RB's. I will be going for 740'cc ones eventually in my s14.

They are now doing uprated fuel pumps which seem to be a viable alternative to Walbro/Bosch etc.
