Thread Closed!!!! lol!! Club suggestions??

Don't even think about it!! lol!!

I come back from Japshow Finale and every thread with club suggestions is deleted and/or closed!!

You lot can't be left on your own for five minutes!!! And as for the members....:whistling: Only kidding!

Right so, back to the point -

For me, it's simple.

1. The club bank account grows by "an amount" per year. Fact. the figures are here http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=94723 but I can't tell if it's £1,500 or £2,500 after expenses per year. This is great news!!

2. The club account presently has £25,000 of the members money in it. Fact

3. Since the inception of the club there has never been a £25,000 emergency. Fact.

What a great position to be in!!

We have £25,000 in the bank and we have never needed to use it!!

I'm sure we have insurance so it should not be needed anyway.

My suggestion is that we stop growing the deposit by what ever it is per year and instead spend the net amount from the previous year on this years members in the way of Japanese car events or events of some description.

Let's divide this left over budget into each region and see what events we all want to attend by a member poll. This should result in more localised meets and I expect that each region will want to attend some of the same events such as JAE, Japshow etc. So not only are we doing more regionally but also nationally.

As for the £25,000 I would like to see some of this invested in capital equipment such as banners for each region and gas BBQ's. Yes I love my food!

What do the REO's think? What does the NEO think?

What do the members in each region think??

Cheers!

Sod off all that money on a private plate and you still couldnt get 300zx :tt2:

Are taking the piss out of me for being dyslexic!!

What a chucking funt!!

I still like the idea of the stick on show plates, could we not make a deal with a plate company like fancy plates or something?? could be added to the members pack???

There are many different sizes of plate though. Perhaps we could provide a "standard" template allowing everyone to print out their own for each show ?

We do need to be realistic about the costs of all these things. Bear in mind that the re-subscription fee is £15, of which we get just over £14 after Paypal fees. If approx £3 of that goes to running the forum, then that only leaves £11 for everything else ! Yes, we do get some subsidy from the trade subscriptions, but this doesn't add up to much overall.

OOOOOH!! Don't get me started on Foooooooooking paypal!!

That's a high percentage of money we are chucking away. I would much rather you pm me the account details and I would happily do a bank transfer then it's free for everyone!!

so we are saying that 5% of our annual membership fees are given away to paypal!!!!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!

I hate them!!! can you look into just giving everyone the bank details?

I know paypal is easy but so is transfering money from one account to another.

Fair point Andy, With comittee approval Id be happy to contact some sites and make some enquiries into getting plates made? if its only a hook on job while the car is statioanry at a show would it make a lot of difference on size???

We could just have 2 sizes standard UK for non modded cars and a slightly smaller for modded?

Or something to that effect would make it so much easier to find out who owns what.

Or even a standard template that people could add info too print off and put in their windows, giving mods etc a little like alot of our ride pages, this wouldnt cost anything then?

what does everyone think??

Yep, it's close to that. However, on the upside it all happens automatically. For me chasing obscure bank payments is a royal pain in the ass, using Paypal means that 24 hours a day subscription updates are almost instantaneous - from the individuals perspective, it's probably worth that. From the clubs perspective it's money that we don't count as ours to start with.

And the bank account details and postal details for cheques are published ...

A few options from me.

If the reo's was allowed funds, it would make days out with the club alot better, for example, sxoc pay half of haynes motor museum entry tickets for their members so it works it out to be 5er to get in, and its a great day out.

Another one, why not put together a hill climb, track weekend on a weekend, and hire out a field for camping. Another club im on, hire out Prescott Hill club for a weekend, and during the weekend they have stuff to do and on the sunday they have a unlimited runs hill climb.

But i do know what people are on about when you get a low turn out at meets, really does make you feel "why bother" :(

So how much did we pay paypal last year?

Hang on before you answer that, let me just reach for my blood pressure pills!!

Got them! go for it!!

Can anyone else reading this please say if they would be ok to avoid pay pal?

Or better still Andy as club treasurer how do you feel about putting up a poll?

We could save £100 or so?

Paypal gift = No fee.

My experience of the gift option is that the purchaser rather than the vendor pays - Paypal still get their cut.

Andy as club treasurer QUOTE]

I was thinking more along the lines of Andy for Prime Minister

first thing on the agenda....abolish congestion charge in London, that cost me £10 on Thursday just to drive down a few poxy streets!!!

Ok dont kill me but only an idea and One i would be prepaired to do myself.

What if the club organised an event (type of event could be anything Dyno day group BBQ drift day etc etc) but charged a fee say a fiver to attend, Now depending on how many people signed up and payed would depend on the size of event? at least when you pay for a ticket you tend to actually go!

not sure if it would work but hey worth suggesting.

Here we go......

That would be great if we had our own bit of basic kit for the region. And I bet that the neighbouring region would also come and join you.

Like most people I am motivated by being fed!! Tell me there is a bbq and I'm on my way!

The idea of subsidising tickets is bang on the money and ties in with my original point of "let's not put anymore money in the account, let's spend it on events" wether it's on equipment or subsidising tickets, it's all good!!

low turn out is to be expected in the early days though mate, it's just the way things go until it gathers some momentum.

To be fair, we are all on here coz we like the craic, and helpfulmess from fellow members. We dont really need stuff, just more fun stuff. Competitions wont cost anything really, but will build club spirit. As said, too many meets will be pointless for a handful of people.

Save the money!

Off the top of my head I don't know, but I would have thought it's a bit more than that.

As I said, I don't have a problem with Paypal, they provide a service which is a benefit to us and it has a cost. I don't know about you but I can't be here 24 hours a day to make peoples subscriptions live. Paypal can do that and it costs us 88p on each £20 subscription and 71p on each re-sub £17. In an ideal world it would be nice if it were half that, but they are the market leader, in fact you could probably argue that they created the market, so good luck to them. No different than a credit card really.

You missed the "n" out of the last word there mate!

Ok so maybe one for the commitee on funds allocation, personally this site has saved me thousands of £££ im not kidding so I really wouldnt have any probs at paying £25-£30 for membership as long as the money was being well spent on raising the profile of the club and getting its members out to meets!! if the subscription was raised a little surely this would allow to keep a more realistic bank balance aswell as provide more club events and further the promotion of our club and cars??

To be honest mate I can wait a few hours for mine to go live if it means not paying them.

I guess the automated action is the winner. Hmm still don't like the idea of paying them so much but hey, never mind.

While you're here Andy, I can't figure out how much the account has gone up by on average for the last 3 years from looking at the figures in the link on the first page. What do we have left over each year on average after expenses?

Could even add an extra tier of membership with a few more benefits, could include exclusive use of brokebacks hat etc (Kidding) :alucard::tt2:

something like

£20 Standard membership

£30 Premium membership etc with extra benefits to be discussed/decided??

Yes but you look at any site and they all save people money because of the knowledge sharing. What we don't do here is put enough back into the members IMHO. That is the whole point of this thread.

You can get tuns of free technical info from US and Australian sites for free!!

Please don't turn this into let's all sing " I'm so happy to get free advice for my 300zx, I'd gladly sacrifice one of my children because it's so amazing!!!"

You join a club and you get free advice from other members - standard. It's not unique!!

I'll shut up now!

100% no!

This thread is about giving more back to the members, not taking more off them!!

Fair point, Just saying its been highlighted that the current funds wouldnt last long if too many major events where organised and subsidied so an alternative solution would be to restructure the subscription and benefits to help with the funding!

Yeah no need to raise the subscription fees any higher. To be honest I've paid £35 since joining up and I kinda feel i've got my moneys worth so far. So i'm not really bothered personally about the £25,000 in the bank which looks like a nice little pension for someone or a group of people.

Well lets not go down that path we want this thread to keep going with positive suggestions, I think the comittee is going to have alot to talk about anyway.
