Thread Closed!!!! lol!! Club suggestions??

Don't even think about it!! lol!!

I come back from Japshow Finale and every thread with club suggestions is deleted and/or closed!!

You lot can't be left on your own for five minutes!!! And as for the members....:whistling: Only kidding!

Right so, back to the point -

For me, it's simple.

1. The club bank account grows by "an amount" per year. Fact. the figures are here http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=94723 but I can't tell if it's £1,500 or £2,500 after expenses per year. This is great news!!

2. The club account presently has £25,000 of the members money in it. Fact

3. Since the inception of the club there has never been a £25,000 emergency. Fact.

What a great position to be in!!

We have £25,000 in the bank and we have never needed to use it!!

I'm sure we have insurance so it should not be needed anyway.

My suggestion is that we stop growing the deposit by what ever it is per year and instead spend the net amount from the previous year on this years members in the way of Japanese car events or events of some description.

Let's divide this left over budget into each region and see what events we all want to attend by a member poll. This should result in more localised meets and I expect that each region will want to attend some of the same events such as JAE, Japshow etc. So not only are we doing more regionally but also nationally.

As for the £25,000 I would like to see some of this invested in capital equipment such as banners for each region and gas BBQ's. Yes I love my food!

What do the REO's think? What does the NEO think?

What do the members in each region think??

Cheers!

sounds like a good idea, mind also getting membership packs out would be a good idea i'm into my 2nd year since resubscribing and still not yet received one.

Might be worth having a Reo meeting on a conference call or something as, I know for me as my car has been off the road ive had very little enthusiam for organising anything especially seeing as we seem to have no club support! Hopefully this is a fact we should be able to change, Obviously funds for "Club Events" should not be an issue since we seem to have more then enough funds available. Im at fault for not organising anything so ill pull my finger out aswell but surely we could orgaise alot more then we do.

This Club has the potential to be fantastic and for the most part i think it really is, been on so many forums that are bloody awful compared to this, I reckon with a little more support from its members actually helping the mods/comttee etc do the job theyve taken on for FREE!! We can really bring the 300zx back into the public eye.

I didnt even get to JAE this year (Gutted) but from comments and pics I can see it was a bloody good event (gutted again) So hopefully this thread wont turn into another bitching thread but a useful and helpful thread to help push the forum spirit and get our motors noticed more in the Jap scene.

I think it should be spent on more Jap shows. But it would be nice to have a stand at JapFest (Castlecoombe) this way I have an opportunity to go to a decent event and only have to travel for 50min instaed of the normal 3hrs!

If there is £25,000 then maybe the club could pay for us (subscribed members) all to have something from one of the group buys, maybe as a christmas present? These are just suggestions!

I don't think we have the need for BBQ's and Gazebos etc in our region. There isn't enough following and that is in no way a pop at our REO (Anthony). There's only a few Zeds so the meets are always going to be fairly empty.

Maybe could put the funds to good use through each REO supplied with a gazebo to use for events in there area.

That way more events could be attended across the region when there is a weekend event on i.e. totb at elvington, a club stand could be there with discounted tickets for members.

No offence taken, we managed 1 good turnout this year and yes 6 is the best we've had in the last 3-4 years. I'm hoping we can do one last one in October before cars come off the road for the winter. Then start fresh in May at Japfest!

also... could we make a small donation to a charity of some sort.. i.e. heart foundation or cancer research..... :)

would be a nice gesture....

I still think a forum project zed.

It could get taken to all the shows to raise the 300zx profile.

Monthly budget for mods and polls for all the forum to decide what it looks like, and the mods it has.

Good idea but think how much it takes all of us and costs to maintain our own cars whos gonna be prepaired to do it? where will it be kept, then theres MOT tax insurance etc I dont think logistacally it would make sense and why have 1 forum zed when we have hundreds already as every owner here represents the forum. just my 2P

This idea was rejected a number of yrs ago, as it was decided it would be unfair to basically pay for a single member to have a paid for modified zx and no other members would ever have the chance of using it.

Plus even with 25k+ in the funds, to make it a show winning zx it would require a substantiol amount more than that.

Could see if our traders would put up prizes for stuff say best mod write up or car of the month, or something like that?? Ive seen it done on other forums with great success.

Yeah but this zed would be THE zed. Not used daliy so wouldn't cost much to run.

We could all chip in and work on it...

biggest problem with any regional meets is attendance, you can only do so much, but if the people don't turn up whats there to do.

Following on from someone saying that a few people offered to be REOs, i sent PM's to a select few and got no reply back about it, im not going to stick someone in the position if they are unwilling to do anything, Mr Bean already got told why he got removed from his position, which was before my time as NEO, but mainly due to not organizing anything.

Ive already said in a different post http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=150297

once i get JAE out of the way, ill be organising OTHER national events, 1 per year i feel just isn't enough, it also helps that im central to a lot of the events with Santa pod just 6 miles from me, JAE 7 miles from me, then you have silver stone, but i also want to do some of the modified lives.

£25,000 in the club kitty since its inception to be honest isn't all that much in this day and age, although i didn't go over the top with things this year for JAE as im new to the roll, it still cost in the region of £1,000 for equipment hire / van hire / food / tea coffee fuel and other things, that was from my side of things, then you can add the plot funds ontop of that. 6 big meets that come to the same amount per year and your soon going to see the funds come down rapidly and if its taken over 10 years to put 25k in there and we use the funds at £1.5k per meet, say we have just 3 big meets that require almost the same set up as JAE, your going to be looking at £4.5k out of that amount in just one year.

I'm no carol vorderman but even i can see that its not going to be long before everyone is moaning again when the club has no funds.

But then im not daft enough to think that an event is going to cost nothing to do.

the only thing id like to get with club funds would be a club van, this would negate van hire which is a sizable amount of money for a weekend. but then whose name do we have it in, insurance blah blah you get the idea.

Now with this post, im leaving it open, this is for ideas but if it starts going into a club slagging match or anything like that it will be cleaned up first, and if it carries on then it will be locked.

Mate no-ones judging you for being out of action. I feel the lack of enthusiasm in this area comes from the lack of money being spent by the club committee or who ever hold the strings on sticking up a banner and a simple regional gazebo and even a bbq at more events. There are loads going on.

It seems like a chicken and egg situation but trust me, if we use the left over money wisely, it will improve the club no end.

OR..... A club zed we enter into competions!

Car - no chance - only one person can drive it at once!

I witnessed plenty of members helping each other and the club out at JAE so I can't see that being a problem once the committee have made the first move with funding.

This has to start somewhere and it needs to start with the basic infrastructure which is IMHO regional banners kept by the REO , Maybe a small gazebo to start with and something that attracts everyone like a free gas BBQ. just bring your own food. Job done. From there we can build.

Zed of the month competitions again? A zed calender? Best mod? Stupidist forum member? Most helpfull forum member?

some good ideas there Andy, before the year is out ill have a definitive plan for next year with other car meets, i like the idea of regional club banners for REO's and the BBQ where people bring there own food or they could all chip in and get something for everyone.

Hello bud!!

Forgot you were the REO!!

Whilst it's great that you are central and available for some events, you can't do it all on your own! You are better off pushing to get the regional guys some budget for the basics. Once you give someone something (banner, gazebo, bbq etc) they are more likely to do something with it. At the moment they have nothing!!

To get different results we need to do different things!!

As for cost, each event does not have to have a massive tent like JAE there are pods that can be bought for each region and then brought together to form a big tent like the 200sx and GTR boys do. They are cool and look very space age!!

You see how this could work??

I think they are on ebay? can someone find them?

Also, some events are just one dayers so banner, gazebo and BBQ is perfect.

At the moment the events side is a bit like telling someone to go and get window cleaning work but not letting them have a bucket, sponge or ladder.

Club van - forget it! too complicated. I'm sure once the club is seen to be putting more into events them the members will be more likely to volunteer free vans and gear etc.

It works a treat mate. I organised something similar for the orange site last year and it created a great atmosphere. I also hooked up with a local butcher and got us all a good deal on breakfast packs and 10% off all purchases. We did a little convoy to the shops and it was quite cool.

I'd happily do it again.

Can we just jump on the back of other events as a chance to get together. Im new to the jap world so slap me down if Im talking rubbish.

There are plenty of country fairs etc, where they encourage people to turn up with their classics, you pay an entry fee for the car and the whole family can go in and wander round.

I have a 924 Turbo (well not for long, Missus has told me it has to go) and they regularly got on the back of events like this.

I agree its not specialised, but gets everybody together in the area, gives the family a cheap day out (usual dog shows, birds of prey, farmers markets etc) and gives us a chance to show the world the Zed...

I also think the Reo's need to give more support to the Neo (Ian) at large events like JAE

we are all event organisers so it seems very unfair of us to leave the biggest event of the year down to just Ian to organise. Pooling the reo's support would help make larger events even better and relieve some time and pressure off Ian to persue other events during the year.

Who said we have to go to the big carshows? I'm perfectly capable of getting myself a ticket (which I would have to do anyway) if I want to attend one of the big national events. Personally, I would rather see my membership fee spent on club events. Not national events which represent poor value for money. I did not join the forum because I wanted a tent in a field at JAE, I joined because I wanted to meet like-minded enthusiasts and attend local-ish meets.

As far as im aware the REO's can apply for club funding for things, and they have been able to do this for quite some time.

REO's at the moment arrange meets, nothing wrong with someone arranging one of the events, im going to put it to the committee about getting regional banners and small BBQ's though nothing stopping someone using there's if they have one

Club van - forget it! too complicated. I'm sure once the club is seen to be putting more into events them the members will be more likely to volunteer free vans and gear etc.

not sure someones going to volunteer a free van mate lol
