Wheel Camber

I have just had laser tracking done, but they can't get the camber of the front left wheel better than -1.91 whereas the acceptable limit should be at worst -1.58. All other settings are spot on.

What could stop them getting this errant values spot on? Could it be indicative of some damage. I have had problems with this wheel in the past where it looked brand new on the outside but was down to the metal band on the inside.

no front camber adjustment on the Z would stop them pretty quickly.... frown.gif

if it is only that side that is out, then shouldn't be too hard to investigate all the bushes and joints and get an idea

Could possibly be wear in the top link, or maybe previous accident damage.

Could be suspention sag.

Whats the ride height of your fronts? From the ground to the top of the front wheel arch?

My camber was out too. The suspension had been lowered and that meant the camber was -2.5 or -3.0 degs out. I found a kit on www.eatrice.com that is a set of plates to fit between the wheel arch and the upper arm of the multi link suspension. The service manager at my local nelson called them and got the dimensions of the plates and made up a pair for each side. This moves the arm across so as to cure excess neg camber in front suspension. The plates were made using 6mm steel and extra length bolts. The upper arm is attached to the arch with studs and these have to be removed as they are too short for the extra plates. Requires moving the master brake cylinder out of the way and some air con hoses on the passenger side, so that studs can be removed and the bolts pushed through. The car handles much better since.
