I've got a manual Jap import 300zx and have developed a starter motor problem.

 

The starter notor turns on ignition but doesn't turn the engine over, presuming it's a sticking solenoid?

 

Are the starter motors and solenoids easy to get hold of and if so does anybody know the part numbers, in case i need them.

If the starter motor is turning then the solenodi must be OK, more likely the bendix gear(?)

 

A rebuild may well sort you out much cheaper than a new part. Check for places that do refurbs etc.

Just to let u know I got 1 from a breakers for £50 a few months back.
